Hello everyone! Hope that you are having a great holiday!

We are seeing many instances of YouTube links and mention of channels at the forum. While we feel that YouTube is a great platform for showcasing awesome hamster cage designs, cute hamster antics and DIY instructions, we don't think it's the best medium for hamster care as many a time, hamster care requires specific one-to-one support with the owner.

Only allowed places
These are the only forums that YouTube videos are allowed in and they are denoted with a description "YouTube videos allowed." in red. Examples of types of videos allowed are given:

Tips, How-To & DIY

How to DIY hamster-related cages, accessories, etc.

Hamster Videos & YouTube Talk (The forum and sub-forum have been merged)

Showcasing videos of hamsters, YouTube channel discussion, etc.

Arts and Crafts

How to paint or make a craft, etc.

Beauty and Fashion

Beauty tips such as nail painting, face makeup, etc.

Movies and Dramas

  Sharing movie trailers, etc.

Music, Soundtracks, Instruments

Showcasing of singing, playing an instrument, etc.

Other Animals and Pets

Videos of your other pets, etc.

Strictly no-no anywhere else on the forum, including status bar updates:
Blatant promotion of YouTube channels

e.g. "Hey, check out my YouTube channel here!" "My YouTube name is blah-blah-blah." "His/her YouTube name is blah-blah-blah."

Posting a YouTube link in response to hamster care questions

e.g. "I see you have a question, just view this video link for all your answers."

Sending unsolicited PMs to other members asking them to visit your YouTube channel

Only exceptions:

- Citations / Acknowledgements

e.g. You posted some instructions, paraphrased from a YouTube video. You should post a link to it to credit the source.

- Small link and mention in your signature if you have a YouTube channel. The overall size and format of your signature should still adhere to our main guidelines.

- Link and mention in your profile page.

In summary, the forum is a place for discussion and interaction. Topics and posts containing just links to YouTube videos and asking readers to self-service by watching a YouTube video on hamster care dilutes the interactive nature of a forum.
