When I was at school, the uniform was black skirt/trousers, white shirt, black blazer and neon purple tie. Yes, neon purple.

Also, as someone who did not have access to fashionable clothes when I was a teenager, I was incredibly glad for the levelling effect of school uniform (even if it did involve a neon purple tie). I think it's unusual for a UK school to mandate skirts for girls these days. There's nearly always the option of trousers.

My school uniform was this it was honestly the worst! Purple knit jumper with a black and white Menzies tartan kilt white shirt. The 6th form was you could wear any jumper but with a prince of wales check kilt still black and white check for the whole school you had to wear black tights and black shoes. Guys had it so much better gray trousers purple blazer white shirt selection of ties dependant on what accolades they had got(sporting, house awards, there was loads of different ones) basic was just black and white stripe then 6th form a suit what ever they wanted and a school tie.

I did appreciate having uniform because I went to a school where a lot of people were seriously loaded and I wasn't so everyone looked the same rather than them in designer clothes and me in my Primark specials. This was a private school that I went to because of learning difficulties and they had a good program at the time and no local school could help so I got some bursaries and other discounts.

I realise that if anyone lives in the area of this school they would no easily what I'm talking about but I don't live anywhere close so its not to big of a deal.
