Hi, I'm probably starting an Etsy shop, just wondering if you would buy stuff like this?;

Paintings made by Kiwi/Avocado and future hamster (example)

Homemade hamster toys and treats

Homemade bird toys

ceramic diy food bowls for small pets

(possibly) homemade seed mix

Suggestions?

Tip: Watch out for bots, they go on business topics a lot. :)

But yeah, I really like the idea! I would consider one of those paintings, perhaps for my my Mum on a special occasion!

The rest sounds great, I personally don't own a bird but I'm sure many would be interested. : D

As for homemade seed mixes, you need to be really careful, get someone to look over it and it can be really expensive.

Question: Are your parents helping you?

Sure would! I only buy organic mixes though because I don't want pesticides in my hammies food.

I did some digging and apparently you must be at least 13, I'm not sure how old you are though.

A few of things to think about:

- making stuff will take time and money, so you need to charge appropriately for what you're selling. What sort of ££ are you thinking of? Because it can very quickly add up when you have to buy eg. raw materials and then spend time making stuff

- people won't pay a lot, people generally expect a lot of Etsy stuff to be cheap

- you'll need an online bank account etc. to process payments

- if you're selling anything aimed at the pets (food, toys etc.) then be 100000% sure that everything used is safe for them. You don't want a lawsuit because something you sold inadvertently killed someone's pet.

For stuff like bird and hamster toys, what are you thinking of? Because personally, I wouldn't buy something that looked <oh no>, like a kid had made it, but at the same time I could get something for £2 from a pet shop, so you need to have something that actually looks professional AND you're willing to charge a dollar for.

Sorry if I sound negative. A couple of summers ago I got really into jewellery making and made a load of earrings and considered Etsy, but when you look at the earrings there, they're like £3 a pair, and the beads and wires cost me >£20, and then each pair took me half an hour to make, so it really REALLY wasn't worth it, especially factoring in packaging and getting to a post office to send them out.

I'd have to agree with IAT.

Etsy shipping is also paid by the costumerr most of the time and it can get super expensive for the person buying; I've never bought from etsy for this reason.

For the paintings (lol it's Odyssey and me xD), most people would want one made by their own pet rather than a stranger's pet to make it more special to them.

Because it can very quickly add up when you have to buy eg. raw materials and then spend time making stuff Canvases and paint is 20 USD in total (bulk order), and it's really up to kiwi and avi how long it takes, so that wouldn't effect the price, so around 3-5 USD for a painting, and around 2 usd for forage toys, 5 USD for a natural hide, 6-15 usd for a bowl (bc they take a while to make and clay is expensive), and bird toys would range form 2 usd to 15 usd

Yeah... 0-0

Idk, anything i have time to make that looks nice. Most of my toys look nice. Once i made on and my mom asked when i bought it xD
