Hi, I’m looking for a good, cheap pen for touch screens that is preferably under £25. I would use it primarily on an ipad (5th generation) and perhaps occasionally my phone. Does anyone have an recommendations? Also, any that allow you to rest your hand without interfering with the drawing/writing, and ones that are good for note taking would be appreciated :)

And, are there any good, either free, or relatively low cost apps that work well for digital art that you would recommend? I’ve never done digital art before, always just traditional, so I’m not very knowledgeable on what is out there.

Any other advice or tips also welcome! Thanks <3

I use ibispaintX! Procreate is good as well, however it's more expensive.

If you want to get into digital drawing I would highly recommend moving to a PC or laptop, and getting a separate drawing tablet such as XP-Pen or VEIKK, which start from around £30. They plug into USB so might work with your iPad (not an Appley person so I don't know, sorry). I'd just recommend this for the screen size etc. though I know that some people manage on a small screen.

I have an XP-Pen with a full screen but they're like, £500, but I prefer my little £40 VEIKK which isn't a screen, but feels like drawing on paper and has an insane amount of pressure levels and pen control.

Warning: if you get something cheap you are more likely to be put off trying this. A £25 pen on a phone screen is not likely to draw (badum tsh) you into the wonders of digital art. A decent pen or a dedicated graphics tablet like I described above can be a whole new level of drawing :)

Here's a decent XP-Pen one one for only £33

And this is the VEIKK one that I have and love:

Thanks for all this info, everyone! I will have a proper look at all the links and continue researching thoroughly before coming to any conclusions. I’m not particularly looking to do lots of digital art or anything too complicated. More just to “play around” as childish as that sounds, to do things that aren’t possible on paper and with more transportability. Of course I’m looking for something that will work well enough that it won’t put me off digital art all together. I’m not set in stone about price so I will definitely look at all your options IAT, and I understand that for many things, there aren’t always “cheaper options” in every situation. Thank you so much again everyone, your input has been really helpful and I will update you as to what I conclude. :)
