-BAR BITING-

- When a hamster excessively chews at the metal bars of a wire enclosure

- This is a stress and boredom related issue

- Usually found in a hamster who is suffering from lack of enrichment and/or a small enclosure.

- If not solved quick enough it may become a habit for attention

- It causes broken and misaligned teeth.

- MONKEY BARRING -

- When a hamster climbs the bars of a wire enclosure in attempt to escape

Very much like the first behavioral sign, it shows stress and boredom caused by the size or lack of enrichment in the enclosure.

- Hamsters are (unlike rats) not natural climber so this is a dangerous activity which can end in bad injury or even worse.

- The best solution is to upgrade the cage and perhaps the level of enrichment inside.q
