Hi everyone, I’m hoping to upgrade my hamster from a cage to a tank in the next few months so I’ll need to make some platforms for her wheel etc
What are the safe types of wood and glue for the platforms/dowels, and is there anything important to keep in mind? Thanks!

Hello!

To keep your hamster’s wheel from sinking down into the bedding, you could put it in the sand bath, slope the bedding so that the wheel has less bedding under it, or put a small amount of bedding under the wheel and put a piece of cardboard between  the bedding and the cardboard piece.

Most woods are safe-solid pine, birch, or balsa wood are all good.

Aspen, poplar, and maple are also considered safe. Avoid fragrant woods (like cedar) and any plywoods that contain formaldehyde.
