I have to get braces in about three weeks and I was wondering what are the differences between metal, ceramic, and plastic (I think they have those) braces. I know that metal are most durable and least expensive but does anyone have experience cause I don’t really know.

Not sure about ceramic but I know metal braces and plastic aligners are a thing. I feel like metal braces are starting to become a little outdated as plastic aligners (invisalign, smile direct club, etc) become more popular due to their invisible and non-committal nature, but I did have metal braces and they got the job done.

Both hurt because teeth are stubborn and don’t want to move, but metal braces can hurt a little more if the tech doesn’t notice a wire poking out and it stabs you for like a solid week or two until they can finally squeeze you in (definitely not speaking from experience…). In all seriousness, metal braces are a little more pokey by nature, but it’s just something to get used to.

In any case, follow the directions they give you and brush your teeth well, especially if you get metal braces. If you brush like you normally do you’re bound to miss a lot (especially the gums) and it could lead to cavities and/or gingivitis, both of which are not fun. :P

Best of luck with your new braces tho! They’ll stink the first couple days but after that you’ll be fine and super stylish 😎
