My Hamster is most likely pregnant. I bought her and she is showing all the signs. I just have a few questions.. When should I supply her with extra nesting material? When should I take out the wheel and tubes? I have an igloo as her home is that safe for her? Also should I give her milk or cheese for calcium? I was researching an I heard that can help her and help with the pups development. If anyone could help me with these answers it would mean a lot. Thank you so much! ~ CactusFlower801

Best to give her extra nesting material quite early before birth, so that she can make her nest. Take out the tubes and wheel now, before she hurts herself. The igloo is safe, but she might not use it for her nest. Some lactose free milk could be good, but it is also a good idea to give her extra sunflower seeds.

Give her extra nesting material whenever possible. Wait to take out the tubes and wheel till she’s closer to birth (this may be hard to tell, but reference the link in the first reply and -it’s unlikely she’ll hurt herself. The main concern is the babies getting stuck or injured in/on those things. The igloo is safe, but make sure to have plenty of bedding for her to burrow and make a nest in, and ideally a few choices of hides. You could give her a little extra protein (like chicken, mealworms, dried chicken, etc.), or some extra fat (dangiehamster suggested sunflower seeds), though she shouldn’t need major diet changes. If you have a water bowl, change it too a bottle as well! :)
