Hi everyone! It turns out my suspicions were dead on and my hamster was pregnant. I’m not quite sure how many babies there are I’m too nervous to get up close to the mom anymore seeing as I against my better judgement kept checking on her and holding her. Witch I know is the worst possible mistake i could make but my family was telling me she’s just fat. Part of me started believing it too. Sigh I know I should’ve left her alone. I’m not sure if she culled any of the babies or not. I know the chances are VERY high being I believe she is a first time mom and all the checking on her I did and holding. I have some questions though. Since she is in a bin cage when should I refill her water bottle it’s attached with industrial Velcro. It makes a little bit of sound when I try to pull it off.. I want to do my best to not disturb her anymore. How else can I help her? I know I can do the most by staying away but is there anything else?

First off, is her belly sort of pear-shaped when you look at it from the top? If so, it's very likely she's pregnant. You refilling her water shouldn't bother her too much, but I would be as quiet and gentle as possible. Hamsters really only kill their babies when they are under stress, so if you leave her alone after she has the babies, it can reduce the risk of her killing them. Once she has the babies, just let her do the rest. Don't touch the babies until they have their bodies covered with fur, since she won't eat them by then. Other than that, I wish the best of luck to you and your hamster!  :valentine:

Yes she already had the babies. I’m not exactly sure how many. Not to many. The smallest amount would be 2. But okay thank you it means a lot to me! I will definitely let everyone know the outcome in about two weeks.
