Well I am so very relieved Robin I honestly don’t know what I would do without your mix my hammy has tried other Etsy mixes and yours is the only one she eats and pouches so i really don’t know what I would have done! 😊

I think it's a good idea to change up mixes ever now and again, just to ensure your omnivorous hamster doesn't get bored of their current foods. Also, different mixes source from different places, which ensures a different vitamin and mineral profile. Varying levels of sunlight and rain effects the nutritional profile of the ingredients.

 

Thankfully, there's a lot better mixes out there than there used to be. Even organic ones and I was surprised to see one the other day that there was a fortified one for the people who worry about nutritional deficiencies with a homemade mix.

 

However, make sure you ask the seller about where they source their seeds, especially in the US. Seeds are many times treated with chemicals to make them grow better and need to be tested for levels of chemicals and fungus, etc which can cause growth issues, neurological issues, digestive upset. I am pretty sure at this point, I've contacted every commercial brand of seeds in the US haha (not literally, but a lot of them) to find out about their standards.
