I just opened a new bag and the little nuggets are no longer round and tan but they are sort of tear shaped and brownish gray. Is anyone else's like this? I've emailed Higgins but I don't know how long it will take for a response and I just fed my ham so I'm kind of anxious about it.

I have not but one thing maybe you could try is checking a bag at the store and see if the pieces look similar. Most than likely it was a supply chain issue and they needed to find a similar item from another vendor.

Thanks for that tip, I'm at the pet store and every single bag they have looks exactly like what I got so I am guessing they changed up ingredients. Higgins was extremely unhelpful in their response and wanted all kinds of information to "investigate what happened to this bag of food" instead of just looking at the picture I sent and comparing it to what they are producing. Their response has me thinking I had poisoned the hamster by feeding him the food...

No, I had thrown out the old bag some time ago because I was keeping the remainder of the food in a ziplock, however, I know there was a formula change at some point last year but when I compared the ingredients at that time I couldn't figure out what was different. I seen a comment on here saying that the changes were minimal but I don't think they went into detail about what the changes were.

Here’s a photo on my current bag (it’s a bit older, almost empty. I’m unsure of the exact date I bought it, but it was late fall/early winter?) label if it helps. Do you have photos of the pellets?

I'm not sure if it's my phone but I don't see your pic. Here is the photo with the pellets. Are yours like that too? I found a YouTube video from 8 months ago of someone showing Higgins sunburst and they also had these pellets so I'm not sure exactly when the mix changed.

I honestly don't think you need to worry that it was a mistake or a bad batch. I think they just changed their mix sightly. They're have been a lot shortages in manufacturing, workers and supplies. They may have had to get the same ingredient from a different vendor, especially since you saw the same pellets in the bags at the store.

I forgot to paste the link! Sorry. I tried to reupload 5em but my device is being slow :/ My badge doesn’t have those but most of the big chunks are gone so I could have just missed them, though I don’t recall them. I agree with Kikya, though.
