Hi!
I'm getting a female longhaired rex tomorrow! She is 4 months old. I'm very excited !
I have a detolf cage, where the hamster I had before lived. She was a dwarf, and I've never had a syrian.
I've heard that they need a lot of things to do, to not be bored, and I will provide her with at least 8 inches of bedding, more if im able to (bedding is very expensive here) and a big wheel, many tunnels etc and free roam time.
I was just wondering if you had any tips, and if a longhaired rex syrian would need to be combed to remove stuck bedding and knots ?
Thanks!

Congratulations on the new addition! I would recommend getting a stiff bristle brush and a comb. I've never had a Rex but my long haired boys need brushing everyday. Thankfully a female won't have as much long hair as a male, so should be easier.

thanks! Yes I hope it will be a bit easier. Rex hamsters just seem to have a bit crazy hair, growing kinda up instead of being pretty flat, and because it's curly it will probably become a bit tangled. I will comb her once every few days, it will not be bad for her coat anyways, I hope :)
