[HamFamForum]

Hello Hamster Hideout!
 

A while ago, we posted on here about our hamster forum, HamFam. During that time, we were still in the beta-testing stages. We have since been working on personal projects as well (Sarantha is opening a pet shelter!), but we believe that now is the time to re-open our site. We are saddened by the closing of HH, as it served the hamster community well for many years. But those years don't have to be over! We hope to see you around the HamFam forum. Here's some of what we offer:

 

- As a smaller site, we will greatly prioritize your feedback and input

- Our team of hamster advocates and experts will be active daily on the site

- You have the ability to create groups (similar to group chats) to discuss more specific interests (we even created one specifically for HH members!)

- You will be able to work your way up and gain different badges (join before the closing of HH to earn a Former HH Member badge!)

Hi, Binder! Haha, no, we were never banned. We are a nonprofit organization so we do not make money from our website; we simply exist as another tool for hamster owners to use. We figured that as this site unfortunately closes down, you may be looking for another platform/community. If HamFam is not the right fit for you, that's completely understandable. We just wanted to let you know, one hamster-lover to another.

No shot you’re a non profit. Literally 0 shot. Your forum is a wix website, I could make a wix site and advertise everywhere and call it a non profit, and you obviously don’t truly know what a non profit is.

Non profits CAN pay people for their work, but they cannot pay it to a private individual. Plus, I’m not 100% sure you can even make money, and with that a decent amount of money from a wix website lol. Nice try

Hi again Binder! We are so sorry if we have caused you any frustration. It seems you clearly know your stuff, and we admire that! But we wanted to clarify: perhaps we should have instead used the technical term, "not-for-profit organization." We do not make money from any of our work at HamFam—it is entirely volunteer work. We work on the website in our spare time because of our love for hamsters. That's why we created our site through Wix; we do not have coding experience, just hamster experience. We clearly do not profit from our site, as we don't have any ads and members are never asked to pay for any of our services. It is simply a free, accessible tool to ask and answer hamster care questions. However, we appreciate and admire your concern. Our intention was not to push HamFam on you, just offer our services as an option. We don't expect HamFam to be the right fit for everyone.
