Note by Mod: Please remember that this topic is quite old and that many of the initial pages are of cages that were only once considered of proper size for a hamster. Since this time much evidence has been brought to our attention to explain that hamsters require much more room than once thought. Enjoy looking through this thread, just keep in mind that you will also see the evolution of cage size recommendations throughout the years. Hamsters may be small, but they require lots of room. You may begin to see more adequate sized cages at about post # 689, and they will become more popular at about post # 1215. It is finally at about post # 5401 that cages that we currently consider of adequate/minimum size are about the norm.

:rose: hihi everyone :rose:
I just want to see your cute hamster's cage. Post some of their picture up so the new members might get an idea of making one fun and interesting cage design for their hamsters.
I would also love to see it because time for mine to change abit. Thanks ^^ enjoy posting!!! :applause:

this is a picture of Willow in her house only a few days before she died. i dont much like it because it shows how old she was, we had to move her water bottle down to the bottom where she spent all her time and we replaced her bedding which was toilet tissue with a terry's towel which we then changed every day. we had to do this so it was easier for her to get in and out of bed. and the wooden bed itself was raised up but we lowered it down to the ground since in her last few days she didnt like going through the tubes at all. the wire cage had those plastic flexible chopping boards cut to size so she didnt have to walk on the wires (it was like that for the previous hamsters as well) and you can see the apple log that she used to love chewing on (just a bit of an unteated apple tree branch). on the top floor are cardboard bowes that we put a bit of food in so she'd chew her way into them and then have many hours of fun running in and out of the holes she's made in the boxes.
:rainbow: poor old willow, how i miss her. but she's up there now with all my other hammies, Holly, Ivy, Mistletoe, Catkin, Willow & Hebe, God bless them all. :candle:

That's Snoopi's cage. That was a few months ago, so that chew bar isn't on the second shelf anymore, her wooden chew toy that's hanging from that shelf is now on the ground, with most of the wooden pieces chewed off. And Snoopi is in the "petting zone", which is part of that red thing on the top.

Hehe, thanks. I'm sure she'd like it more if she knew what to do in there. Not to mention, not a lot of room for more toys. But this is the second cage I've had her in, and I might buy some add-ons to create more space. Now all I need is money. :undecided:

at first i felt like buying that kind of cage you have for your hamster, southpaw. My mum look at it and told me that can a hamster climb that high to the petting area?

sharma's home....i had recently replaced the smaller "funnel" tubes with these SAM tubes...they're a bit bigger for king-size hams such as he is!
