My sister was playing with my hamster when suddenly it pounced on her and bit her a little above her belly button. She was wearing double layered clothes. Even though, you could see the bite mark in her skin. We did scrub it with some soap and water, it now is not that reddish or swollen. We still are worried that it might be infected. Can someone help me out, I'm new btw.

It is very rare to get diseases from domesticated hamsters, but they are still animals that carry other germs that can be harmful or un harmful.

If there wasn’t any blood, you don’t have to wrap it up or do anything about it, you can put a band-aid on the bite with a little polysporin.

Scrubbing it with soap and water when it only has the bite mark, can make it swollen, so instead of scrubbing it, it’s better to get a warm cloth and just wipe it.

Ive been bitten by a hamster twice, and after putting on a band-aid, it healed in about a week, so there is nothing really to worry about.

If you know that your sister has allergies to animals, or is getting a rash, or bad reaction to the bite, make sure she gets the care she needs.

It doesn't sound like it broke the skin, so it should be fine.
