Dried insects can be found online and at most pet stores; Fluker’s line of insects is the most popular. Pretty much anything is safe to feed and they can be mixed into the main mix much like any other ingredient.

Yes, you’ll want the GA/weight of the veggies after they were dried. To find the new GA, you weigh the veggies before and after and anything lost is water weight. Everything else (protein, fiber, micronutrients, etc) will still be there for the most part so that stays the same. So, if you had 100g of tomato before and that turned into 10g of dried tomato, the there would still be 1g of fiber, 0.42g of fat, 0.7g of protein, etc, it’s just instead of being 1% fiber it’s now 10% fiber (1/100 vs 1/10).
(Protein/fat/fiber numbers for tomatoes taken from the USDA’s database)

This is so helpful thank you!!

Any of their freeze-dried insects are fine. I’ve personally used their mealworms and crickets and they went over great, but I’m sure any of their other options would be perfectly fine, too. There’s no real right or wrong one to choose. :)

Hey all
I have been using your posts to help me understand and learn about hamster nutrition. I am looking at making a hybrid mix for my Syrian, Oliver. I just wanedt to check to make sure I'm calculating the GA correctly.

https://www.buywholefoodsonline.co.uk/organic-soya-beans.html Could anyone let me know what the GA for these soya beans would be so I can make sure I've got it right (or wrong haha).

My daughter wanted a hamster very much. She was literally begging me to buy her one. After talking with her about responsibility and other stuff, I bought her a hamster. She was so excited that she overfed him on the first day, and the hamster passed away. She was very sad, so I bought her a new one. This time it took her three days to get rid of the hamster. She overfed him again. I bought her another one, but I also got her a smart scale (https://www.vont.com/product/smart-scale-bathroom-scale-weight-scale/), so she could weigh the hamster's food and not cross the limit of how much the hamster could eat. It really helped -- that hamster is still alive.
