My Dwarf hamster has been having a weird looking eye for the past two weeks. It wasn’t that bad at first but after a week it started bulging out. His other eye also was bulging out just a tiny bit but it never got red. I was really scared for him I didn’t know what to do so we took him to the vet on Friday and the vet told us that he might have cancer or an abcess or an infection. He said he could perform surgery but there was a low chance of survival since hamsters are so small they could die during operation. He said the best choice is to euthanize him. We were going to go today but all of a sudden over the last days he has looked so much better. His eye seems to have went almost back to normal. It’s not really red anymore. Hi other eye is completely back to normal. He seems to be recovering by himself or idk if it’s going to come back and bulge out. What should I do? I don’t want to put him down if he’s showing so many signs that he wants to live and is getting better. The vet was almost positive he was cancer but he seems to have gotten a lot better since we saw the vet. Has anyone went through this?

Im not comparing sure what to do but I would start a new topic so you can get more answers. Go to a sub forum and click the start new topic button in the right corner. Type what you want to say and then press post.

My mom thought it would be a good idea to get hamsters for my birthday.

I was upset because I've never had any, until now, and i was worried I wouldn't be able to give them the proper care they deserved.

Anyway, a couple of days ago one of  my hamster's had an eye pop out. I took him to the vet, and they did surgery to remove his eye, because there was nothing else they could do as he had a tumor behind is eye which was the cause of his protruding eye.

Its been three days since his surgery, and I keep checking on him to make sure that he doesn't pick at his stitches, but i just went to look at him right now and he's bleeding from his face.

Its not a lot of blood, so I don't know if its normal, or if i should call the vet again tomorrow, or if i should just wait for his follow up appointment this coming Thursday.

Please HELP!!

You should make your own topic for this, but I would definitely call the vet asap. They will be able to tell you if this is normal or if he needs to be seen right away.

Hello! I noticed you already have a topic about this here- http://hamsterhideout.com/forum/topic/159709-hamsters-bleeding/. Please dont post about it elsewhere, as people trying to help will have trouble finding it.

I entered my room and noticed the my hamster (rocket) was above his bedding and wasnt moving. I picked him up to check on him and his moved a little I tried feeding him but his stops moving after a few bits as if he fell asleep. When I try to move him a bit he starts to shake. Can anyone tell me what's wrong? I tried calling vets but some don't even help hamsters. I don't want rocket to die.

I would make your own topic about this, as it is more likely for ppl to see and respond to it~

Hello! You should really make a new topic. If you need help we can help you out.

How is he now? Whats the temperature of his room? Is he still with you?

Make sure to specifically check for exotic or small animal vets, as even if a vet takes small animals they may not be knowledgeable if they dont specialize in it.
