Hi everyone, I need some advice on getting a new hamster cage for my Syrian hamster Rosa. She is quite destructive, so I was wondering if it would be suitable to pit her in a wooden cage ( the paw hut wooden cage) it is a huge upgrade from her current cage but I am just not sure if she could chew her way out? Any help is appreciated
Female syrians often need a lot of space. She may be happy in the new cage, but if not, she may be determined enough to chew out (even though its rare). I personally would risk it, but theres always a small chance she wants more room and chews out.
Make sure if you get that cage you dont build it with the levels, as there dangerous if she falls.

I know NiteAngel Pet has great wooden enclosures! I have the large sized enclosures (900+ sq inches) for my male Syrian, and the medium sized (700+ sq inches) for my Dwarf.

I’ve just recently purchased a 75 gallon tank (864 sq. inches) for my Syrian. I got it for super cheap because there’s a crack in it that was sealed and it can only hold dry animals anymore. From what I can tell it was a fish tank before so I was wondering if there is any extra cleaning I need to do with it or any way to make sure there is nothing in there that can hurt my hammy. I would have bought a new tank but the price was too good to pass up, I got it for 40$. Thank you!
Since you don’t know the tank’s history I would use a bleach solution to clean it. 1:64 parts bleach to water works, just be sure to use gloves and air the tank out well. Once it’s dry I would give it a quick wipe down with a damp cloth or unscented baby wipe to get off any residue.

Hello there!
I was just wondering if anybody could send me a link to any 75 gallon fish tanks/aquariums or any decent/extra sized bin cages that are an affordable price ((Generally below £75 if possible)) because i have been desperate to find one for my little one but we have had no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!

I'd suggest looking on Gumtree, Facebook Marketplace, Preloved etc for second hand fish tanks. You won't find a new one of that size for anywhere near £75 unfortunately.
Another option is a DIY cage. A popular one is the Linnmon cage. The linked video shows how to make it from the Ikea Linnmon tabletops. You would probably need to get a piece of acrylic cut to size for the front as I don't think the Ikea glass tabletop is made anymore.
If you can't do DIY and your budget is flexible, you can get a custom made rodent tank from junglepets.co.uk. They can make you a custom sized tank with a mesh lid. If it's for a Syrian I would recommend not going below 100x50x50cm which works out as about 75 gallons. These custom made tanks are cheaper than fish tanks because they're not designed to hold water so the glass is thinner and the construction is lower quality, but they're still fine for rodents.

It was discontinued, but to my knowledge its being sold again, at least in the USA

It's discontinued but remaining stock is still available to buy. The UK Ikea website says "Last chance to buy".

I am new to this forum and to hamster care since I got my first hamster two weeks ago. He is a Syrian male, now 7 weeks old. He is very cute, tame although he doesn't stay in my hand for more than a few seconds (umless there is a treat there of course

Although I made some reasearh prior to getting him I am still a bit anxious about his well-being so I would be really greateful for some advice from you who are far mlre experienced.
My first questions is regarding the cage size. I bought him an approximately 1500 sq inches wire cage, which is divided in two floors (720 each). The ground floor is filled with bedding (I just upgraded it to 10 inch, I had 6 inch before) and it has another platform of about 1/4 of the cage with one hideout and food and water bowls. The top floor is like a playground with a 12inch wheel, tunnels, hideouts, big wooden branch, some chew toys and a sand bath. Here I also installed another but smaller platform where I leave him different treats and toys every few days. I also started scatter feeding him a few days ago and I think he really likes it. Does that seem a good enough set up and cage size for a Syrian hamster?
I have not seen him do any bar chewing except for the first day and I see him using the wheel and the toys a lot. I am still a little worried since I let him free roam and play every night for at least one or two hours but he often starts scratching at the door to another room. Is that normal behaviour or could it mean he is stressed or trying to escape? He does come to me and climbs all over me a few times and I have also seen him willingly return to his cage a few times.
Thank you very much for your help!
