Robos bites hang on for very long. When Robert and Oscar bit me, I had a hamster dangling off my finger for a few seconds...

Agreed with Yanathehammy.

Some hamsters will bite harder, longer, or for different reasons. We can't have one or two hamsters and make those 2 hamsters represent the whole species  :hamster2:

I don't think there is necessarily a beginner hamster, but there is definitely some species that are more beginner friendly than others. I would recommend a winter white dwarf or cambell's dwarf hamster because Syrians need tons of space(dwarfs need lots of space too though) but dwarfs don't need as much. I recommend the winter white dwarf or cambell's dwarf opposed to a robo hamster because robos run super super fast and are harder to handle and tame.

I wouldn't say that there is a best hamster for beginners, because every hamster has their own personality. I personally think that Syrians are the easiest to handle, just because dwarfs tend to be super energetic. Syrians do tend to be a bit picky with their enclosure, so dwarfs are a bit easier to please. In the end, it is really just based off of which one you would like, because each hamster species has pros and cons.

In my opinion, I feel like syrian hamsters are the best for beginners for they are very friendly.

I've had a Russian, dwarf and Syrians. Syrians are the sweetest most cuddly hammy. I'll never go back to dwarves if I had choice. I'm hooked on the fluffy Syrians 😍

This is just me, but I thought that one of the dwarfs are “easier” for people. I just think this because a Syrian needs a bigger wheel (for sure) even though all hamsters bigger the better but if you don’t want to buy a huge wheel for a dwarf you don’t “need” to but you would have to for a Syrian. There are also some toys or hideouts and tubes that need to be a little bit bigger for a Syrian while dwarfs will fit a little better. Robos are very fast and small and may be harder to handle for beginners who don’t know how to. This is just my opinion and this doesn’t mean that you have to get a Winter White or Campbells dwarf or Chinese(if you can find one) you can get any hamster you desire!

Great post! I don't think there is necessarily a beginner hamster! but there is definitely some species that are more beginner friendly than others. I hope this helps with considering your first hamster!
