I like to build towns in Minecraft, with currency and jobs, so it is sort of realistic and fun to play on. Sometimes I build them for me and my friend to play on, but most of the time I play by myself. It's one of my favorite ways to play Minecraft. I play in peaceful so that there are no monsters, but I have a mod that allows hunger in peaceful, so I still have to "buy" food with my currency. The currency in this town is emeralds, "E" for short. So something for 5E would mean 5 emeralds.

This town is called "Sunflower Meadow" since it was built in a beautiful meadow full of sunflowers.

First of all, here is an overview. The town is next to a vast jungle biome, with large rivers to supply endless water to the town.

I was excited for December, so I got the town ready for Christmas a little early. Here is the town's Christmas tree:

2017-120.jpg

This is the veterinarian's office, where you can take your pet for a checkup or heal them if they are injured. They are very friendly and even have treats on the counter for your pet!

2017-116.png

This is the shelter, where stray or unwanted pets get to live until someone adopts them.

2017-119.png

2017-114.jpg

This is EpicPet, a large chain pet store with supplies and animals for sale.

2017-118.png

This is the library! There are soon to be a ton of books here, full of knowledge. There will be pet care books, books about the history of Sunflower Meadow, maps, travel guides, and more!

2017-117.png

This is the town's trade center. Here you can sell goods that you have farmed or mined. You can sell your eggs, cheese, milk, iron, coal, charcoal, vegetables, fruits, and diamonds in exchange for emeralds. Currently, this is the only way to make money in the town, though more ways are coming later.

2017-115.png

This is one of a few parking lots in the town. Horses and mules serve as transportation around town, and you can keep them in a parking lot when you are not using them.

2017-119.jpg

This is the Snowy Hills Christmas Tree Farm, only open for a limited time each year! This is where you go to buy a Christmas tree and have some hot cocoa!

 2017-114.png

This is my house! I have 3 free range rabbits, 4 hamsters, 1 rooster, and 1 dog named after my real life dog. I also like to decorate for the holidays...

2017-112.png

This is the town's grocery store, it supplies the town with all the essential goods!

2017-118.jpg

This is another pet store called Fluffy's. This small store has been around a long time, supplying the town with all that they need for their pets! They also sell some exotic animals that EpicPet doesn't sell, like hedgehogs and ferrets! This is the first building I built in this town.

2017-116.jpg

2017-115.jpg2017-113.png2017-111.png

And finally, this is the town's radio station. It is now playing Christmas music..

Let me know if you have any suggestions! I didn't even show you the insides of all the buildings, so let me know if you are interested in seeing more pictures of the insides of the buildings :)

Oh my gosh! I love it! If only you could make it a server.. hm.. what version does it run on? (i have forge for 1.8.9) It's amazing either way and you've done a really good job with it! I love currency/trading sort of deals so this is perfect.

Thank you! It would be neat to make it a small server, just for HH friends, would be fun! I don't know much about servers, since I'm always in single player. I run the 1.11.2 version of Forge. Thank you so much! I also love having currency, it makes it more fun because you have to work and earn money to buy what you need!

It would be pretty neat! I've tried it a few times, and I semi-know how to do it (but I'm on mac and most tutorials are for Windows) so maybe I could try... ever since they updated the launcher the GD has been blocked so I can't get A) newer versions of Forge B) mods or maps C) anything at all D) my saves folder back

Yeah it's a lot better than Creative. I like to set up a system in Creative (since as I mentioned I can't do mods) and then go into survival without any extra things, just the shop. What mods do you use? Especially for all those little baby critters! I am in love with all of them- Minecraft Modders do really good on animal models usually.

Aww, that stinks. What do you mean by the "GD"? Sorry, I'm not sure what that stands for lol.

I use the following mods:

  • Animania (Makes animals more realistic and adds more animals to the game. You actually have to care for the animals!)
  • BiblioCraft (Adds more customization ability to books, tables and chairs, light fixtures, and more random stuff)
  • Spice of Life (Makes it so you can't just eat the same food over and over. Makes it more challenging!)
  • Waila Mod (Tells you what block you are looking at, how much health an animal has, and if they are well fed, entertained, and not thirsty.)
  • Joshua's Christmas mod (Christmas decorations, sugar cookies, etc.)
  • HungerInPeace (Pretty self explainable :P)

All those mods seem to run smoothly together, I rarely have any crashes. I agree, I love animal mods! Animania is my favorite mod I have.

Ah I've used BiblioCraft before, it's a great mod! That was before the update and now my GD doesn't work. :irked:

Oh I've never heard of it!! It sounds amazing though I'd really like to check it out. Since you actually can make mods work (does your game directory not work too? :huh:) maybe could we try to set up a server with some/most of these mods for 1.8.9, or can you tell me how to make the mods <dumb> work because i'm clueless :-;

I don't think I'd be able to manage a server myself, but if you could create and manage it, I'd love to see it! I have absolutely no idea how to do one, and I thought that it costed money, but I could be wrong.

To get mods, I download them from a reliable source, then cut them from my downloads folder, and paste them in my mods folder located in the app data folder.

To find the app data folder, I have to search for it, open it, then navigate to appdata>.minecraft>mods. It's pretty simple once you get used to finding it and doing all that. You'll only have the "mods" folder if you have Forge installed and have run the Forge version of Minecraft at least once. When searching, I search for "%appdata%", and it comes up immediately. It varies depending on what type of computer you have though :) Hopefully that wasn't too complicated and made sense.

I could look up some tutorials, test them, and then let you know how it went. I can't create it (at least not with mods- since the GD is gone.... r.i.p) but it's free, if you know how to do it right, with a little bit of minor coding (super simple stuff, you literally copy something off the page, into a Terminal or something and press ENTER and fix it all up) and a few GD encounters.

Hmm.. I'll see if that will work tomorrow! Thanks <3

Also I just saw your video on Lilac... R.I.P, she sounded like such a sweet mouse.

Nice town! It's always fun seeing different people's build and play styles :)

I personally play vanilla, on easy or normal, no mods- with the exception of Optifine of course, cause it makes things run nice and smoothly. Mostly I love exploring- sometimes I start new worlds with the sole purpose of exploring, or going on a quest for something specific. For example when polar bears were first added, I went on a mission (in survival mode) to find one in the wild. Sure I could have just spawned one in to see it, but where's the fun in that? XD Seriously though, Its so much more satisfying to find it yourself after searching for potentially hours, with only the supplies you can carry with you (sometimes on horseback if you're lucky enough to find both a saddle and a horse along the way) :D

On another note, I'm not usually a mod kind of person, but I kind of like the sound of this hungerinpeaceful one that you guys are talking about... I've never really played much on peaceful because not needing food makes a lot of tasks that make up the game (growing crops, gathering seeds, hunting, breeding/keeping animals etc) pointless, and because there are some resources you can get from the hostile mobs. This mod changes a lot though. Not only would it make peaceful just as enjoyable to play, but as I've been sitting here thinking about it, I'm realizing that there's actually not really many things that you can harvest from hostile mods that you can't get in other ways, or that you really need in a peaceful enviroment. For example:

Bones/bonemeal- Not hugely useful unless you want your crops grown in a hurry, or want to dye something. Normally its mostly found by killing skeletons, but you can also find bones in chests in abandoned mineshafts, dungeons and the like, and most recently from fossils that can be dug up in desert biomes, so its not impossible to get.

String- Used in bows and fishing rods, the former being almost pointless in a peaceful world anyway. Besides killing spiders, it can be found in chests and harvested from cobwebs in dungeons, abandoned mineshafts, ect.

Things like spider eyes, ghast tears, blaze rods, magma cream ect, are really only useful for potion making, which is not so good if you like making potions, but not an issue if you don't care. The only other thing I can think of that might be tough is gunpowder, but it can be lived without if you have no intentions of making TNT, fireworks, or splash potions.

Basically what I'm saying is, it sounds like a pretty livable world (especially when paired with the anamania mod) ... one that I just might give a try next time I feel like starting a new survival game :)

Oh and by the way, in case anyone is interested, my latest adventure is this map that I've been playing, and so far it is THE best adventure map I have ever played! I'm serious, it really is! The builds are gorgeous, the resource pack is awesome, the quest system, npc's, and trading works so perfectly and create a world that is truly immersive. The world itself is large enough that you really feel like you are travelling from place to place, but there is just enough signage that you never feel lost, and there are teleport hubs for quick travel (I've been secretly hoping for a horse, but have yet to see one XD) if you don't feel like walking. Quests come from NPCs, with the important details (what you need to do, where to go, and the location of the person who's quest it is so you can return to them after) neatly packaged up in books that are automatically placed into your inventory and then removed once complete.

As far as difficulty goes, it feels just right to me. Mobs are non-existent in this world, even at night. The only place you will find them, is locked in dungeons, caves and the like (of which there are no spawners, so once they're dead, you're clear), with a spawn set point fairly close by, and keep inventory is on- basically the worst that can happen is you'll respawn a short ways from where you died, with all your stuff. Food is not hard to find, and new weapons can be earned, or traded for with coins which you can also find, or earn, or get from killing mobs.

The aim of the map is to gather 15 portal crystals to access the portal dimension and rescue your brother, the really nice thing is that there are actually 30 crystals scattered about the world that you can get from various dungeons, get quests, and even a few parkour challenges and such. This means that you can play how you want. Don't like dungeons? Don't have to do them. No good at parkour? Skip it. There is a ton to see and do, and hundreds of secrets to be discovered. For an explorer like me, its an absolute joy to play :D If you like this kind of game, you should totally give it a try- I promise you won't be disappointed!

Wow okay, I went on way longer than I expected XD

Spoiler

Thank you!

It's amazing how many different ways there are to play. It can be a game for anyone, as you can play it in just about any way you prefer.

I don't care for survival mode, unless it is in my town of course lol. I like to have all of the resources to build just there for me (AKA creative mode), while building. But when I want to survive, I like to go into my town I built and survive. I can still enjoy most of the aspects of the game. I have a little veggie farm in the yard of my house, and I keep some of the produce and trade in some for emeralds. I can go in the jungle, meadow, or mountains to mine and cut down trees to trade in or keep for myself. I can explore anywhere outside the town if I want to. Sometimes I too find myself wandering, usually out in the jungle because it's my favorite biome.  I just HATE the monsters lol. They make the game so unrealistic and they are so annoying in my opinion, so I'm always on peaceful. I love mods, because I can pick the ones I want and improve the game experience for myself.

About the potions - in my town they are "medicine" lol, since I like my towns to be realistic. The healing and regeneration ones are used at the vet to help animals, that's the only reason I use them, and I just get them from creative.

And yeah, the Animania mod is super cool! There are cows, sheep, goats, hamsters, ferrets, rabbits, pigs, hedgehogs, poison dart frogs (that actually poison you, be careful!), tree frogs, and more. The cows, sheep, goats, pigs, and rabbits actually have different breeds to make it more interesting, and different genders. If you like exploring, I think you'd love that mod, because there are so many different species and breeds to explore, it's really awesome.

Oh my goodness I love doing this! And I use Emeralds for money too! Usually the first thing I make is a hotel. My current world is Bear Town, and the hotel is called The Baby Bear Hotel. With a statue of Bear. But I Make giant hotels with big pools on the room, luxury rooms, and go carts (mine carts) it's soo fun! I love your pics too :)
