Hi! I know this doesn't pertain to hamsters but this does pertain to media and entertainment. There is section of this forum about other hobbies so I thought I might ask. How do you feel about tiki's Tok possibly getting banned. Me personally I think we need closer concrete proof before we just ban but everyone has a different opinion.

I was on musically, (the app before tik tok) and its like vine, its peaked and now its time for it to leave, cant wait for all the tik tok stars to scramble to youtube instagram etc, and i think its tik toks time to join vine and musiclly, and if the accusations are true then yeah. It should be banned lol

I live in Canada so it's not a threat for here but all my favourite creators are from the US so I'm pretty bumbed. I see lots of people saying that they are going to Byte but lots of other famous creators are just going on Instagram which I'm not allowed to have because my parents are pretty strict about social media. SO overall I really don't want it to happen and all they goodbye videos make me really sad and sometimes cry lol (yes I'm sometimes a big crybaby haha)

Also in my opinion if people wanna let there info be sold let them but, there should be a disclaimer.

I use to love musically, now I occasionally use tiktok, but they shouldn’t steal info. It’s wrong and I guess tiktok sorta deserved it. Who knows maybe a new app will come in a few years.

EDIT: I don't know how to delete this but it has come to my attention that I have said something political that many people may have different views on. I didn't mean it like that and I hope you understand that I was really not trying to be like that!!! Sorry :(

They did some research and TikTok isn't actually stealing information, Trump was just angry that TikTok bands together to ruin all of his plans of winning the election so he had to make up an excuse to ban TikTok so that he didn't seem like more of a baby.

No, tiktok does, I read through their terms and conditions, and They collect info. Lol no one reads through terms and conditions anymore, I didn’t until I hear tiktok steals info. They said it themselves, A long time ago.

I’m not really sure, it’s one of those things that I have mixed opinions on.

I seen a video and they were saying that if they could not be on TikTok anymore they would lose a lot of money, and actually start struggling, he said he buys all the food, pays for his and his parents houses and a lot more all from the money from TikTok, what would he do without TikTok?

Many people are obsessed, literally going on it 24/7 I feel like to those people it may be good them seeing friends in person (sorry if anyone is offended because of this, sorry I didn’t mean for it to come out like that ). I would also like to see what all my TikTok obsessed friends would do if it really did go. I have TikTok and go on it about 30 minutes a day, but I really wouldn’t be effected like some others would.

I’m really unsure, maybe it should stay? Xx

I never really was interested in social media or TikTok. I would say, "I don't really care," but I guess some other people would have a more negative response.

Hmm, I’m a little against relying on social media for money. I mean these things can always happen and that’s why people should not drop out of college etc. For this stuff. Especially the hype house, I mean like they skip school to go to the beach and post a video on it...

And obviously relying on social media is not the best since social media is more of a trend thing. Many other people have gotten the “hype” and a year later are forgotten (Lisa and Lena, Loren Gray etc.). Tiktok trend lasts precisely a week. And tiktok is also addicting some people spend 10 hours a day on tiktok. Tiktok is also not the most appropriate. With swearing, immature dancing and more things which I won’t say. And considering how many people under 13 are on it I wouldn’t suggest it. I mean I don’t blame because I had musically when I was 10 but musically and tiktok are very different things. Musically was more warm-hearted, appropriate, and fun, with less people, tiktok was just made for the money. Many people left musically/tiktok once it changed. And I don’t use tiktok as much, maybe once in a while to keep up with friends etc. Also tiktok is a major area for cyber stalkers.

Fun fact: As soon as you press the “done” button before posting (the button you press to go to the page where you can save as a draft, add captions, choose private public etc.) the app takes a screenshot of your space and saves it. And sends it to the president of China.

Now on the good side...

It’s funny no doubt

Some content is really good, and heartwarming and teach a lot.

It’s a fun way to connect.
It united people

It gave some people an extra buck and made some people more noticed

I won’t explain more since everyone already knows about it.

Not trying to argue about politics here, just wanted to warn you that some people are a bit sensitive to politics, and that we don't want any arguments occurring. Not saying that you can't state your opinions, but I just didn't want any drama to happen. :)

From what I've heard I think some people are mad about it originally being from China and people don't want stuff from China taking data(?). Honestly that doesn't make a whole lot of sense since by that logic we'd be banning all goods from China and that's obviously impossible at this state.

I really don't use TikTok (in all honesty I try to avoid it...too plagued by what my sister calls "straight TikTok"), but I know of plenty of people use it for similar purposes as Vine (such as my sister) where all they want to do is tell/watch jokes and stuff like that. It'd be a shame for it to disappear over politics when most of the platform probably doesn't care that much about it.
