Hi all!

As you may remember, yesterday I posted asking about your favorite movies and

TV shows. In that post I included a sentence stating that to get to know you guys better, I would post questions about your hobbies and interests. So, here is my question for today: What are your favorite books, recommended books, favorite Authors, and/or favorite series?

Thanks in advanced!

My favourite book of all time (I would definitely say for only ages 15+ ) is the Davinci code. It was an extremely thrilling read and so was the sequel, Angels and Demons!

Although, for all ages (well, not super young) I would recommend any of Agatha Christie’s books! Each of them are interesting in their own ways but I would have to say Murder on the Orient Express is my favourite.

These are both crime fiction btw :)

My favorite books are the High Hurdles series by Lorraine Snelling. They are awesome. I also enjoy The Puppy Place for a short read. Harry Potter, of course, and dog encyclopedias.

I love the Christy Miller series as well, it’s one of my favorites!

I think I like Wonder. It’s a wonderful story about kindness, and about how everyone is different. :)

Thank you for responding! I haven’t read the book The Davinci Code, but I have seen the movie. It’s very good! I love Agatha Christie’s books! They’re so suspenseful! Both the book and movie, Murder of the Orient Express are very good, but the books are always better. Lol. If you like Agatha Christie’s books, you might like the movie Knives Out. It’s very good.

I don’t think I’ve read the High Hurdles series. I’ll check it out. Harry
Potter is awesome! Sounds like you read a lot of great books!

Thank you for responding!

If you are looking for a good read, I highly recommend Divergent! It’s a great book! It’s a series and has some movies based off of it!

Yes! I’ve read wonder before! It’s a great book! If you’re looking for a good read, then like I said above, I highly recommend the book series Divergent! Which has a movie series based on it.

Thank you for responding!

Yes!  I love her Hercule Poirot series.  I haven't read any lately, but the endings are always mind-blowing (especially since I'm not that great at picking up on foreshadowing  ).  Have you seen the movie for Murder on the Orient Express?  It was really good!  I was actually really surprised that Josh Gad (Olaf from Frozen and Lefou from the live-action Beauty and the Beast) could really sell such a serious character!

Of course I'm a HP fan, no surprise for a fantasy-lover such as myself.  Already shared my thoughts in the movies thread you posted, so I won't bother you with that again haha.

A year or two ago, I read the Maximum Ride series by James Patterson, which is about this group of winged kids with superpowers who grew up in a lab and are on the run.  The first two books were AMAZING.  However, Patterson must've really wanted to milk every drop out of that series and he stretched it out into 9 books, and it got progressively worse until nothing made sense anymore.  The series started to contradict itself a lot, they were conveniently gaining new superpowers that were never mentioned again, and the "twists" were all really awful.  Honestly wouldn't recommend it because you'll just be wasting your time.

Why did I share this if I don't recommend it?  I really don't know.  I guess I am just in a ranty mood lol.

I just finished The Name of the Wind, which is the first book of the Kingkiller Chronicles trilogy.  It's set in a different land in I guess a medieval-type setting with a society that kind of mirrors ours.  It's about this bartender who used to be a legendary hero and great adventurer, and he's telling his story.  You can just tell by how it's written that the author of it is an absolute genius and probably also plays an instrument, based on how passionately he describes and details the music in the story.  I just wish I could hear it for myself, it's so sad that even the most poetic storytelling can never capture what a song sounds like.  Sigh.  But yeah, totally give that series a read!  I hear that there are other books set in the same universe, too.

I’ll totally check out the movie and The name of the wind! I’m actually not really a Harry Potter fan. I don’t know, I’m just not a fantasy magic kind of gal.

Another good read (lol you can totally see that I am a diehard murder mystery fan) is the Sherlock Holmes series. If you want a short taster of Sherlock Homes books there is a mini book called ‘The Five Orange Pips’ which is one of my favourites. ‘The Speckled Band’ is also good! There is also a really suspenseful tv series on BBC about the adventures of Holmes called ‘Sherlock’. Ahhh, it is sooo good (especially because Benedict Cumberbatch plays Sherlock)!

I love murder mysteries, so Sherlock Holmes and Agatha Christie's books are high on my list!

I do like The Mysterious Benedict Society. It's an adventure-mystery book, and it's good for all ages.

The Mary Russell series is a twist on Sherlock Holmes, and it's awesome! Basically a girl meets Sherlock, and they become partners.
