Hi everyone!

Before I got my hamster, I had the LED light strips on my walls and celing. After I got my hamster, I wasn't sure if I would be able to keep my LED lights on. I researched and saw that hamsters are okay if you put red lights on. I did that, but the lights seem super bright still.. I want to keep the LED strips up but I'm a little concerned.

Anyways, I want to know everyone's opinions on LED light strips and keeping them on with hamsters. I tried looking up the topic here on HH, but I couldn't find anything!

If you have any information, please let me know! Thanks! :veryhappy:   :hamster2:

Will they be on 24/7? Or just throughout the day, or just throughout the night?

I wouldn't recommend having them on at night just because that's when your hammy is up and ready, but during the day while your hammy is sleeping and unable to be bothered by the lights I think it's fine. Someone else might have a more experienced answer though, so make sure to read their reply too!

I saw another thread before, where someone wanted lights at night, and people said red colored light was fine? because apparently hamsters cant see red, I think that could work, but you should wait for other members opinions.

No, I usually have it on throughout the day here and there and then I'll have it on right before I go to bed just to read, or watch a movie or something. I don't usually have them on for too long. And I usually keep it red at night because it is also supposed to help you sleep, and I guess red is a color that isn't harmful to hamsters. Thanks for replying!

The LED light doesn't hurt the hamster's eyes, but it would be much better for them to have the light off at night since they are nocturnal beings. Darkness makes them feel energetic, and it's healthy for them to experience it as often as possible. You should make sure that the LED lights don't take away that possibility from them. I know that hamsters exposed to more red light have less evidence of depressive-like symptoms, so it's good for them in a way. I know for sure that https://www.ukled.co.uk/ has a great selection of LED lights designed for animals!

I used some closet lights as they're a bit more appropiate (less bright), but any led strip would be fine.

I would just try to figure out what time your hamster starts moving and grooving at night and turn them off 20-30 minutes before he wakes up

I heard that red lights are not good for hamsters. If I remember it right, it was about their attitude. If they are under red light more time, they start being more aggressive, but I'm not really sure about that. Also, don't forget to remove most wires if you use the led strips around your house. My last hampster received an electricity bang because he ate the wires of my led lighting. Hopefully, he survived. If you seek a good replacement, you can buy the lighting appliances from vont.com. Let me know if you decide to make orders with them. I have some delivery coupons.

I'm so annoyed with these spammers. Does anybody know how to report them? :(
