Is there a subscription or do I have to pay individually?
Do I need a separate subscription or does it go with Amazon prime?
Also is there any options for free books?

So I received a kindle for Christmas (still in the mail lol) and I was wondering how I get books?

Sorry, the page froze, logged me out, but I got an image of my answers so i dont have to type it again. Here ya go.
One thing to add, I would get the warranty, as mine broke multiple times (wouldnt turn on) so I got a couple new ones for free.
Edit: Why is it so smalllll

I believe you use KindleBooks/Amazon Kindle which comes pre-loaded on there!
Yes there are free books, you can also read samples of non-free books
Hope this helps!

Thank you guys! Btw, is the free books section large, or is it just a couple less popular titles? Just wondering!
Pretty small, thought some of them are interesting! Sometimes they give free books during some months

Generally, you buy books individually and access them in the Kindle app.
If you have a library card, you may be able to use an app (most libraries use Libby or Overdrive) to borrow ebooks from your library, for free.

When you get your Kindle you will need to log in and then you access the store. You can buy the books individually there, or sometimes there will be "package deals" (eg. a full series cheap), there are some self-published/new authors with very cheap or free books as well.
One extra thing to add - if anyone else in your household has a Kindle, you can share their books.
Congrats on your Kindle, they are seriously AMAZING. I have >2000 books on mine, I love it. And yes, before anyone complains, I have all of my favourite books in paper format on my shelf as well.
