So after looking at a lot of different cage set ups, I am wondering if a tortoise enclosure could be converted to make a good Syrian enclosure. They are solid wood with mesh tops. Opinions or suggestions?

Can we see a picture or a link of it? I'm not really familiar with tortoise enclosures :)

Tortoise tables tend to be quite large, which would be great. However, the are also very shallow, if you were to turn one into a hamster enclosure, I would recommend building a raised lid, potentially with a section of solid wood at the bottom of it to increase the bedding depth as much as possible. As ^^ said, would you be able to provide a link to one you are specifically looking at so we are be able to give more specific suggestions or ideas?

I have looked at this one on chewy and some on Amazon for reference. How deep is best? I know that a lot of people use Christmas tree bins for cafes but the tortoise houses seem deeper. (I am someone bad at conceptualizing shapes so sorry if this sounds silly

This one one is 12 inches deep, and I’d suggest at least 18 if you can. I agree a raised lid would work for this (so, bedding fills up most of the base but you have room for wheel). You’d also want to somehow secure the base as it slides out.
