so my winter white(?) hamster had an accidental litter of 6 healthy pups. i'm not 100% sure of their genders, but currently it's 3 females, 3 males and 1 unknown (placed with the males). between the females, there's a gray pup who has a much bigger size than her two sisters, even though they have the same age. why?
some photos:
i'm not sure if she's simply bigger of if it's actually a male. some sources say males are bigger, others say females are bigger, idk who to trust.
note: both the gray pups, when still with all their siblings and mom, were the ones who ate from the food bowl the most out of the other 4 whites, apart from mom ofc.
Since they’re hybrids, the pups can have a mix of sizes. Also Campbells dwarfs are larger than Winter whites, so since they’re hybrids it makes sense that at least one of them would be “Campbells size”

My past hybrid dwarf's littermates were kind of similar to this--his one brother was a normal-sized hamster, while he was pretty small, and his other sibling was even smaller than him. It is normal for different littermates to be different sizes, like Pluto said above, it could be due to them taking after different species, or it could just be like there's a 'runt' in other litters, there's a just naturally a bigger hamster in this litter.
As for telling their genders by sizes, in my opinion, that isn't really a reliable measurement, simply because individual hamsters have different sizes, no matter what their gender, and because all of the people writing articles have different experiences, so most of their females might've been larger, while another person's males might've been larger, which is again, just a case of individual sizes.
I'd probably say that the hamster you are holding in the third picture is a girl? Maybe? I'm not very experienced with these kinds of things, though, so I'd wait for another, more experienced member's opinion. Hope this was helpful!
