Hi so when I got Willow January 11th 2022 and in the pet store she was labeled as a Russian Dwarf/ Winter White I believe and so she is most likely a Hybrid but I was wondering what weight are they typically? I want to be able to tell if she is underweight, overweight or just the right weight. I am going to get a food scale soon. So if more than one person could maybe answer please that would be great.
I think most I've seen on here have been between 30-60g, with them being more commonly in the 40g-50g range. You kind of figure out your hamster's typically weight after they stop growing and stabilize weight.
For a while, Mabel (Syrian) was gaining weight every week and then the grow rate slowed so she was gaining weight more slowly and now she's settled into between 135g-140g. If I weigh her and I see she's up to 150g+ or down to <130, I'm going to start worrying something is going on and be keeping a closer eye on her behaviors and habits. Increases or decreases of 10% or greater should mean keep an eye out.

One of my adult hybrids is 22 grams. Which is rather small for a hybrid, 22 grams was actually the healthy weight of my previous roborovski (the smallest species). But she doesn't seem too unhealthily small, just very small for your typical hybrid. I doubt I'll have another hybrid as small as she is, it really is rather odd. (edit: just to be clear, she is rather small, and doesn't seem too unhealthily small. 22 has been her normal for a bit. But, since it is rather small I'm monitoring closely just to make sure she's not losing more weight or seems to be unhealthy in other ways.)
Another one of my hybrids is 54 grams, though seemingly at a good weight. He doesn't physically look unhealthy or overweight, he's just a bigger hamster (especially compared to my 22g hybrid :p)
And yet another one of my hamsters is 54 grams; however, she is a bit overweight. She looks like a big ol blob and her legs aren't defined as much as they should be.
I don't know how much help this was, but I just wanted to provide a few examples of how differing some hamsters' weight could be. Robin has written her own topic about hamsters being overweight. I think it's pretty informative, especially if you don't know what you're looking at, so I'll link it for you if you'd like to take a look.

It honestly just comes to a point where you can look at your hamster and kind of tell whether or not they're at a healthy weight. Obviously, it's still very important to weigh them every so often in order to keep track of their health. But after a while it gets easier to tell just by looking, for a basic idea on your hamsters weight~
