Hi everyone, I've recently noticed a growth on my hamster. We made a vet appointment, but the soonest availability is a week from today so I'm just concerned that it might be too far away. Her temperament hasn't changed, she's still eating / drinking and staying active as usual. She's also able to pee and poop normally. I would love to get any insight on the growth if any of you have seen this on your hamster before? Thanks in advance!

Here is information about my hamster -
Age: 1.5 years
Gender: female
Species: syrian

These are the details of my hamster's ailment -
When did it start: my partner said he noticed it a month ago, but it's grown since then. I've only noticed it in the past few days.

Some photos I took of it here: https://imgur.com/a/7npNCJ2

It looks like it's actually between the anus and the urethra, and over/part of/protruding from the vaginal opening. My best guess would be a growth/tumour or a prolapse, but I'm interested to hear what others think too.

It looks to me like your hamster could have open pyometra. It looks similar to when my female had it. Have you noticed any unusual smells? Do you have a decent animal hospital that has an exotics department? It's good she's still eating and drinking, do you know if she's lost weight?

No unusual smells and she hasn't lost any weight! The vet that we're going to does treat exotics. We were able to send them an email with the photos and they said that since she's acting normally, it's not an emergency and that it'll be fine to wait until next week to take her in. I guess I'm just extra worried since this is the first time our hamster has ever had a health issue :(

Good luck and keep us posted. Without a strong smell, I doubt it's open pyometra but it be closed pyometra but Daisy could definitely be right about a prolapse/tumor. She's at the age where reproductive issues can be a thing.

to my eye, this looks like possibly some kind of skin cancer, possibly basal cell carcinoma?

is the brownish crusty area at the end of the growth part of it, or just debris?

when you say it's grown, can you say how much it's grown? can your partner give you an idea how small it was when they first saw it compared to now?
