Hi. I am adopting 2 robo hamsters from my local shelter soon, and I was wondering on Cage Suggestions. Any suggestions? It is about 3600ish. There is about 600 sq inches of bedding that is 14 inches deep. If you have any questions just ask. Thank you so much. 20220809-201635.jpg

Hi!
I think it looks very good, although I've personally never owned robos:)

Just a few things:
I would suggest placing the wheels a bit more spreaded in the cage, because if all of them are in a row 1 ham could take possession of all of them, which would be a reason for them to fight, which isn't good obviously.

I would personally add a bit more hideouts and not as many small wood pieces, still keep some for chewing tho. Robos can be pretty skittish so nice if they have a lot of hiding spots!

Last thing, because I think they will sleep in the bedding, I would reccomend at least two hideouts there, so they don't have to share, that would minimise the risks of fighting too :)

Ps: I cant really see, but your mesh platform should be covered with some cardboard or plastic so the bars don't hurt the hamsters feet :) I'm sure you have done that, but just in case you haven't!

But CONGRATS on that amazing huuuge hamster cage, I'm sure they will love it ! <3 you can be proud!!!!
Hope it helps :)
Not an expert on robos, so corrects me if something I wrote was wrong :D

Keep in mind that robos are super small. You need to cover the mesh platform with something or their feet will just fall through. There are plastic mats sold for the purpose, but personally I would get a different platform because the bar right in front of the ramp is awkward as well. Additionally, I'm a bit worried that the trek to the burrowing area may be too much of an effort for them to use it properly (unless there's another entrance I'm not seeing), and with a single entrance, one hamster could guard the entrance. I wonder if there's a way to make the burrowing area seem less like a separate cage.

Make sure there aren't any pokey bits on the twigs. I would move at least one wheel, so that it's harder for one hamster to be territorial over them.

Yes, but it looks like its the only solution for the bedding area, because the cages walls are so low, you couldn't fit enough bedding.
But idk how talk they are personally if its like 7 inches without mesh, I would just add a tree plank so separate both areas, so it won't be as much to climb, even though very deep bedding is amazing, I think robos will have enough with 7-8 inches, correct me if I'm wrong.
If the mesh on the cage walls is still too low, maybe make a frame of wood, on the entire depth of the cage, that you fill with bedding? This will be more work though...
And lastly, I personally wouldn't take the risk to have such a high point, where your bedding area is, because they could jump down, or fall down, and whith wuch small hamsters if could be very dangerous.
Hope it helps :)

Thanks everyone! I will be adding a hole in the side of the bin and a large ramp so that no one can guard a single entrance. I will be putting cardboard on the mesh and I will think of something so that they cannot fall off the bedding side. I will make and add some more hideouts. And last but not least, I will be moving a wheel.

Thank you so much! If you have any more suggestions, tell me!
