If you do those things, it should be safe!

Ok, good. Now the hard part is making my mom bake the sand :sarcastic: . I've been trying to make her bake twigs for my birds and hamsters for months.

You could do what I do, and bake things for your hamster when she is away. I tried to bake a rock for muffin the other day, and she had a fit because I was putting rocks in her oven.... so I waited till I was home alone when she went to the grocery store, and then I baked some rocks and sand. :mischievous:

i thought of that but i'm terrified i'll do something wrong and burn the house down
if I get desperate i'll try it though... can't be too hard to turn the oven to whatever degrees its supposed to be and let it bake for 45 mins.

I may not be PS(aka Poptartshop) but no! Hamster can get sick easily while wet and it washes away all of their natural oils which can stress them out. Please just avoid it all together. By the way next time you want something answered when it has nothing to do with the topic try making your own topic or searching the boards for similar topics. ;)

I haven't seen this mentioned...what about the bathing sand made for hammies? Like this?

Admittedly, the "Rose" flavor seems like bad news. If I can find an unflavored one, would it do?

u can use chinchila bathing sand for hamsters.

however, syrians will be less likely to roll around in it unlike dwarves. syrians will dig around and use it as their peeing area.

u can buy sluis chinchila sand or jr farm chinchila sand

robosrox: Hamsters can train themselves, I remember my first hamster did. And lots of hammies sleep and store food with their pee and poo but it is normal even if it seems a little gross. ;)

I use the Little John High Corner Litter Pan. I've had 2 syrians and they have both taken to it immediately. I didn't even train them. I use the Potty Litter for hamsters. Right now I have Lola, and she uses her potty. She pees in it. But poop is another story... XD As long as you clean the cage once a week it's fine that they don't poop in the potty. Or you can scoop out the poop. But you still need to clean the cage once a week. :)
