I might have missed this, but does this apply to abandoned pups of all species or just certain ones?

It's for all species, even some from other Rodentia families :D

Wow, I admire your dedication caring for an abandoned litter like that! Those directions are just fabulous. Truly inspiring.

I would suggest plain yogurt rather than anything flavored!

Great information.  After mother died, I have one surviving syrian pup left and it is day 19.  He is eating seeds, and veggies on his own, but shows no interest in eggs or drinking on his own either formula or water.  How can I help him learn to drink, he has no roll models, and I would like to have him independently caring for himself as soon as possible.  Any information will be helpful.

I would post a thread in the Hamster Pregnancy Care forum, as the last response to this was in 2014. I know there are people that could help you over there.

You can put cucumber and bread soaked in milk in the cage to provide some hydration and lower the water bottle to their mouth level, as babies they can't reach much!  However your question was written a month ago so I hope everything went ok!

I raise orphaned and abandoned baby rabbits and as someone mentioned earlier, stress can kill them, I know from experience :(

This guide is awesome! I have Zoologic 33/40 to feed my rabbits, but I also have kitten milk replacer. Also I caught a wild vole from my garden to study voles and about a week later it had four babies! I got to watch them grow up and when they were older I let the mother go, separated the boys from girls and started to get the babies ready for the wild, when they were I let them go where I had released their mother and they are probably still out there! Luckily the mother was fine and I didn't have to raise any of the babies.

Again, great guide!

Hi I'm currently hand raising three orphaned Syrian Pups they are currently 15 days old and I am curious as to how often I should be feeding them my Vet said that I should start feeding them every four to five hours for the last 3 days I have been feeding them every 2 to 3 hours. Should I stick to every two to three hours or is my vet right and I should decrease the feedings to every 4 to 5

i'm once have a week year old, 7 orphaned dwarf.. well i feed them evry 3-4 hour and they grown to be fine, they also thought that i am their mother...

well i think you should follow the vet instruction, because he is an expertise... but if you feed them a lil' amount for every 2-3 hours i think i could be fine...

But, i could be wrong...

hope this could help you....

Wish they could grow up to healthy hamster!!

For the formula for the babies 1-10 days, how much water should you add? It seems like it’s all powder.

It seems to be 2 parts powder to 3 parts water, so like 2 half cups powder to 3 half cups water.

I think the water was left out :)
