This is a great topic! It really helped me with my hamster's urge to NOT chew. Sometimes, he refuses to chew, but thanks to this, I don't have to worry about it! Thanks Tori!

Have you tried cheesie chews , greenies , whimzees chews , or carrot crunchies? These chews are really good! My hamsters can't resist them!

I have two hamsters. One just likes to hide while the other would love to climb. The quiet hiding one rarely bites the cage but I had to switch the hyper one to a glass cage and she still tries to climb out despite how big it is and filled with toys :P

Hi! My hamster Cherry is a Campbell's dwarf hybrid. I've only had her for about six days now. She's an absolute sweetie! She climbs onto my hand and sits there when I put it in her cage. However, this morning I noticed that she was biting the metal base of her wheel. I have lots of chews for her which she chews on all the time and she lives in a 105qt bin cage. I also give her whimzees and other items she can interact with. I observed her throughout the day and she keeps chewing on the metal base. She sleeps behind her wheel. For some reason she doesn't sleep in any of her hideouts. I'm going to put lemon juice on the place she chews but does anyone know what the underlying cause might be? I haven't been able to take her out yet because I wanted her to settle into her cage before taking her out of it to let her roam around.

I have the same problem with one of my Syrians, Bagelboo. Her name is Cookie and I can't get her to stop chewing on those bars! Chews, wood, and more wood! She ignores it, prefers the Bars. I haven't tried this yet but I heard that if you rub green apples on your hamster cages bars it stops the hamster from chewing on them. Anyone else, if you can't stop your hamster from chewing on those bars, rub green apples on them bars!!!
