No Tweety....you are just not allowed to give out any personal information about yourself or post any pictures. The rule is meant to keep all members safe!

Also, Bianca....I don't know who your email provider is but mine has a safety feature where you have an email address that is tied to your original account, but it can be deleted in case of problems. Check out your mail options to see if you have a similiar option.

My kids even at 10 and 9 have an adult with them most of the time. I simply dont believe in leaving them unguarded at home until they are old enough to know how to run off if there is a fire or something.

Once we even had a shady looking character at our dorrstep offering to read fortunes

I don't think anyone bad is on this site.

But still, I like this rule.

Haruka: Not entirely. Bad people are everywhere. Especially on websites that attract children. HH attracts kids, so you can sort of guess the odds. I'm sure they are here, hiding, even participating. Be careful, everyone. If you give out to much personal info, you best cover it up, and start living a more protective life.
I'm sure I have scared some people, but a little bit of fear is good. You know what can happen, and you will usually try to prevent it.

This is a very good rule. I may not have children now, but someday when I do have them I want to be happy to know that HH is safe for them to go on without being hurt by sickos(that is if HH is still up which I'm sure it will be.)

personally some of us are mature enough to undertand this but...the picture thing is strange i mean why do we need to be linked to google its nuts i think it should be changed to like the registration on some sites if your under 13 you shouldent let out your ages if your over 13 you can as long as you dont say your last name ...personally i think google isnt needed on here and i found this site on a link page so ya why not just link pages and no google?....ps google toolbar is better...ok this is a rant but seriously i have yet to see myself on google and i have posted my pics on other fourms and they are linked to google

I don't think it's about your photo appearing on Google, but simply for the fact that bad people ARE out there, and who knows what would happen if they saw a picture of you.

A lot of people on HH are only around 10 years old, and we only want to make them as safe as possible on here. :)

well, we don't actually link to google. we simply allow google to "spider" or "crawl" hamster hideout, as with most other sites. if we disallow that, then nobody will be able to find hamster hideout on when they do a search for hamster information on google!

I think this rule is good enough how it is. Why do you want to put yourself in danger by posting your last name, your location, and/or a picture of yourself? Before I knew what state two of our users lived in, I was able to figure it out in a week by only two clues, and I didn't see the state name until after. This makes me sound stalker-ish (O_o), but the point behind it is, if I really was a crazed weirdo, a lot of people would be in danger.

Please don't take this the wrong way and assume that I'm a crazy person...
