Dear HH members,

Lately we have a few members who have been pressuring other members to use skype with them even though they have expressed no interest. This is considered harassment and will not be tolerated. Members who have been reported for doing this will be investigated and banned immediately if the report is found to be true.

Do be reminded that some examples of behaviour listed below are considered harassment:

- Asking members to use an external chat function such as skype or other online messaging/voice chat apps

- Asking members to send a photo of themselves to you

- Asking members to reveal personal information about themselves such as but not limited to names, address, town, city, etc.

You have the right to reject such requests so please be always mindful of your own personal safety on the internet. If you receive such requests from anyone, tell them politely that you are not interested or report it so that we could investigate. Thank you.

As always, love your hammies!

It's only considered an offense to the rules if they're overly pushy about it, right? Someone did ask me for my age once, but they weren't pushy or anything.

If they ask once politely, it's fine. But if they keep asking after you say no, then it'd be a problem.

Yeah I would think so...if someone asked you like "Hey, how old are you?" and you told them you don't want to tell them, if they say okay and don't continue harassing you for it I don't think this is an offense. But if someone were to keep asking you by saying things such as "Why not? Just tell me how old you are..." this could be considered an offense to the rules...

I think it's better to just report someone/thing that's making you uncomfortable on hamster hideout, then the moderators can look into it.

^ Just my thoughts :)

But this did not specifically have to do with the forum? I remember a staff saying that Skype could not make members be banned upon do to it not being HH owned. This is sad news, but I'm pretty sure its not to do with the forum specifically, more with Skype.

It's not about what happened off the forum, but that members use the forum (via PMs etc) to hassle members to give information that they don't want to.

For example, if I asked you for your Skype details and you gave them to me straight away, then later on, on Skype, I was hassling you for your address and ages and everything, then no, the mods couldn't do anything, as it's off the forum. The case dusty is talking about here is if I asked for your Skype contact details and you said "no", then I kept PMing you asking you to let me add you.
