As large as I could possibly go, or whatever the hamster is happy in. My hamster glacier is in a diy cage with 1,200 square inches of floorspace, and that’s what it took to make him happy. For a reccomend number, 1000+, but what I think is important is what your hamster is happy in.
Lol if I could conjure an enclosure out of thin air? Like 7,000 square inches of floorspace, because why not?

I would make a hamster cage the size of a bedroom,a gerbil and mouse cage the size of a 2 people bed,and a hegdehog and rat cage of 2 bedrooms.

For *me*, I think I already have my ideal hamster enclosure size. It's around 1000sq inches.

But for my hamster? Well, he loves his enclosure and doesn't seem stressed or make any attempts at escaping like my girl did.

I still think for my hamster, his ideal enclosure would be the size of a small bedroom or maybe the largest IKEA Pax.
