Briar Rose's P.O.V.
Journal Entry No.2
I looked around the bedroom for my satchel. I found it near the desk and opened it carefully. I pulled out a hair brush and a tooth brush which I put in the small bathroom. Then I realized I didn't have a change of clothes. Maybe Friday could help.
"Um. Friday?" I asked looking up at the ceiling. " Yes Miss? Is there something I can help you with? " Asked the A.I.
"Yes. I was wondering if you could find me a change of clothes?"
"Just look in the closet." Friday said, "Pepper, Wanda ,and Maria picked out some clothes for you in case you didn't have any."
I walked over to the closet, opened the door and turned on the light. I gasped as a least ten complete outfits came into view.
I walked into the closet fingering through the outfits. All of them were pretty and comfortable looking, but the last one on the end caught my attention. It was one of the more casual ones.
It was a pair of skinny jeans, a black long sleeve shirt, a black t-shirt over top, and a black lace headband. I loved headbands!!
I grabbed the outfit and put it in the bathroom then I went back to the closet looking for socks and shoes. There was a box of socks against the wall and five different pairs of shoes. The were some heeled black boots, some flowery Vans, some dark blue tennis shoes, some red two inch heels that I knew I would never wear, and a pair of shoes with little wheels in the heels. I chose the pair with wheels cause they looked fun and I had pretty good balance. I took the shoes and the black knee high socks and put them on the bed. Then went into the bathroom found a towel in the closet and took a quick shower.
After my shower I got dressed. (Not looking in the mirror as much as possible.) I dried and brushed my hair. I put in the headband carefully. I always put them in a special way so it held my hair away from my face yet my hair could still fall in front to hide my face. ( I know it doesn't really sound right.) I took one last look at my reflection than left the room. I put on the socks and slipped on the shoes and I was ready for the day.
The living room had hard wood floors so I tried to move on the wheels of my shoes and found it to be very easy. I rolled around the room happily. This was fun! I tried to remember the last time I had real fun. (Sadly I couldn't.)
I rolled to the door and remembered that I was supposed to tell Friday to call Pepper.
"Um, Friday? Could you tell Pepper Potts that I am ready?" I asked shyly rolling around the room again.
"Of course. Is there anything else I can help you with?" She was nice. I shook my head than realized that she might not be able to see me so instead said. "No, thank you."
I rolled around the room practicing how to stop, speed up, slow down, and turn corners.
After a few minutes of rolling around there was another knock at the door. I jumped violently (again) and fell hard onto the floor. The door opened and Pepper walked in looking around. Her eyes widened as they fell on me sitting on the floor. She knelt down near me and I pulled away a little. She looked at my shoes and smiled slightly. "I see you found the shoes Wanda put in there for you. Are you good at them?" I nodded than pulled myself to my feet. "Can you show me?" She asked softly. I nodded again and rolled around the room for her. I didn't show off , I just rolled around, carefully avoiding the furniture. Pepper smiled widely as she watched me roll around with ease. "Well shall we go?" I asked softly. Pepper nodded, turned, and left the room. I followed close, but not to close.
I rolled slowly after Pepper as she led me down a hall to an elevator. She pushed the down button and walked in. I hesitated. I did not like small spaces. Even if I was alone. "Are you okay? We can take the stairs if you don't like small spaces." She said calmly. I looked up at her tilting my head.
"Tony used to be claustrophobic after he was kidnapped by a terrorist group." Pepper told me. "It's just one floor. Let's take the stairs."
I shook my head. "I need to get comfortable with small spaces." I answered. "Are you sure?"Asked Pepper looking at me concerned. I walked into the elevator and nodded. She went on after me and I closed my eyes and focused on my heart beat as the elevator doors closed. After a minute the doors opened and I held my self back until Pepper walked out then I followed. She led me down a hallway then another until we came into a common area. Pepper walked in, but I stopped in the doorway. There were a lot of people in there. Most of the Avengers were in there. Pepper looked back when she realized I wasn't following her. She came back over to me and gave me a reassuring smile. "It's okay. They won't hurt you. They're here to help." I tilted my head. "I don't…..believe you." I told her cautiously. Pepper looked surprised . "Why do you say that?"
I hesitated. "Well, it's not that I don't believe you. It's more that what you said was a lie. You said they won't hurt me, but Tony Stark already blasted me in the chest just last night." All eyes were on me, but mine found Stark. He looked at me unblinking. I searched his eyes for emotion. Regret, stubbornness, and a slight bit of fear he would never admit. "He also kidnapped me." I added watching his reaction.
The blonde man from the track who I now recognized as Captain America glared at Tony. "Tony! You kidnapped her?! I thought she came here of her own free will!" Stark turned to him.
"I'm sorry. I thought that bringing in a dangerous person who *leveled a small mountain* was my job." Stark growled. "And the only reason you and the others who didn't sign the Accords are here is because Pepper invited you here to *find closure and healing*. You know in case we have to save the world again. So I would remind you that as long as you are a guest here how I do my job is up to me. The only time you get to talk is when I ask you to contribute." and before Rogers could give a come back, he turned to me and told me to sit.
I sat down on one of the couches facing the other people.
Stark nodded to Pepper and she walked forward. "We are just going to ask you some questions. Is that alright?" Pepper asked softly giving me a reassuring smile. I nodded. She pulled up a list on her tablet and started with the first question. "How old are you?" I blinked at her. "I thought you would start with my name." "Well you already told me that. You said your name is Briar Rose."
I hesitated.
Steve Rogers unfolded his arms. "Did you lie?" "No I didn't lie!" I told him alarmed, starting to panic. *If you lie you get punished.* "They called me Briar Rose. But that isn't the name I was born with." I said tilting my eyes to the ground. "Who is 'They'?" Asked the dark man from the track who I now recognized as The Falcon. "The people who made me what I am." I said bitterly. "The name I was born with was Marie Rose Keller. After my parents died in the fire that destroyed my house they took me for some experiments. Everyone thought I died in the fire too. I was six or seven years old I think. They codenamed me Rose because of my middle name. They trained me as an assassin and taught me to control my powers. Briar was added to my name when I was ten years old. They had trained me to with stand all normal kinds of torture. But that was a problem. If I messed up or lost control they had no way to punish me. So they came up with a new one." I stopped talking and looked up. Pepper looked at me with pity.
I couldn't stand people pitying me, so I looked away. My eyes scanned the room. They landed on a woman with brown hair in large curls. "They were trying to recreate the Hydra experiment that was done on you. But something went wrong." I told The Scarlet Witch. Her eyes widened and she looked around the at the others. "How did they get the information? I thought that experiment was lost when Hydra fell." She asked a woman near her. The woman was the Black Spider- no the Black Widow. A trained assassin/Avenger. She turned to me. "Do you have a name for the people who did this?" She asked me walking over to face me. I pulled my knees to my chest as she approached. I nodded and answered in a small voice. "Octon. Because the Hydra symbol was a octopus. They are what remains of Hydra and whoever else they could recruit." Natasha nodded to Stark and he pulled up a holographic screen and started to search the name. Pepper cleared her throat and stepped forward.
"Let's go on to the next question. How old are you?" I looked at her and pulled my knees closer. "Fourteen, I think." She nodded and typed the answer on the tablet and asked. "Where did you live before the fire?" I thought hard trying to remember that far back. I was so young when it happened. "I think I lived in North Carolina. Greensboro. In the suburb." I answered keeping my eyes on Pepper. A man stepped forward. He had braces on his legs that whirled when he walked. "I have a question for the girl." He said. Pepper looked at me and I nodded so he continued. "What was Tony talking about when he said you leveled a small mountain?" I paled. He continued to look at me. "It was their last test for me." My voice was very soft and my hands had started to shake a little. I hid them in my pockets so they wouldn't see. "If I passed their last test then would I would be sent out as an assassin for them. But when I found out what would happen to me if I failed I knew I would have to do the test and hope I could get away when they were looking through the damage. That's what I did. I escaped them and had been on the run for a few months when Stark picked me up." I explained.
My hair had fallen to hide my face and my hands were still shaking. I tried to stop them by taking my hands out of my pockets and clutching them tightly together. "I am sorry. I had no other choice."
Pepper walked over to me. I pulled back as she came closer and flinched a little as she put her hand on my shoulder. I let it stay there, resisting the urge to shrug it off. I wanted to try to trust them and maybe after a time they would come to trust me.
"I think that's enough questions for today. I'll take you back to your room." She said calmly and I nodded. She removed her hand from my shoulder and walked to the doorway. I looked back and spoke to Wanda. "Thank you for the shoes. They're my favorite." I gave her a small smile and turned back to follow Pepper. I followed her at a distance as I wheeled down the hallway, careful to not run into her. She looked back at me and smiled.
When we finally reached the elevator again I had mentally prepared myself. I walked in after Pepper and was proud of myself that I could keep my eyes open for the entire elevator ride.
When the doors opened I walked out and went down the hallway to my room. It was on the end to the right. Pepper walked over to the door next to mine. "This is my room. Natasha and Wanda's rooms are also on this floor. Maria has a room in this level too but she hardly ever stays over night. She's always to busy with her work at S.H.E.I.L.D." Pepper sighed and I nodded even though I didn't know who this Maria was. "Well, you should go get some rest. Maybe a nap or shower. That always makes me feel better." She recommended and I nodded, opened my door, and went in.

Chapter Four
No ones P.O.V.
Pepper walked back into the room and sat down on the couch next to Tony. Natasha, Wanda, and Clint also sat down on whatever chair or seat they could find.
"Well, what do you guys think?" Asked Steve.
"I think she was milking it. All that stuff about briars was a little too weird." Said Sam dismissively. Bruce stepped forward and all eyes turned to him. "I don't know about the rest of the stuff but she did go through some kind of torture. When I patched up her arm in the jet I pulled up her sleeve and all along her arm were long white scars running up and down in every direction. I suspect if she would show us we would find more that cover most of her body." He reported to the practically silent room.
Bruce sat down on an empty couch and Rhodey walked over to join him. Groaning, he sat down as his braces whirled.
Stark stepped forward next pulling his holographic screen into view of them all. The screen was of a man and woman with a young girl sitting between them. It was part of a newspaper article. The headline read THE KELLER FAMILY PARISHES IN HOUSE FIRE. The article told that the whole Keller family had died in the fire. James Keller who was an art teacher and painter, Rose Keller who was a writer and stay at home mom, and their little girl Marie Keller. The police suspected that it was an electrical issue.
Stark pulled up the picture to fill the screen. Marie had brown wavy hair like the father that reached to the small of her back, sharp blue eyes like the mother, and a mix of both their features. He than pulled up a video of a girl around fourteen. She had the same brown wavy hair, but it had been cut and only reached her shoulders. She was very small and was very skinny. Her clothes practically hanging off her. The girl in the video was shoved forward to a small circle painted on the ground. She stood on it facing the mountain. A scientist walked over and told her something and she nodded. She turned back to the mountain and raised her hand. Scarlet energy spun on her finger tips ( Wanda let out a small gasp.) and the mountain crumbled to the ground. She looked over at the scientist who nodded to her, she than let her legs give way and passed out. A man in an army grade bullet proof suit walked over and dragged her to the side. He than lead a team of researchers to the rubble and they started scanning it. While they were doing that the girl woke up, got up, and looked straight at the camera for the first time. She than lifted her hand and shot a shard of scarlet energy. The screen went blank.
Stark went back a little, paused, and zoomed in on her face. She looked almost identical to the girl in the newspaper photo. Only two differences. One: she was older and Two: the sharp blue eyes she had once had were now a clear and sparkling scarlet. There was no doubt that the girl in the picture and video was the same girl at the compound.
"Well I think that proves that she was telling the truth. So do you guys want to order pizza or..." Stark said in his slightly arrogant way.
"I think we should talk about this more. I mean, we all know she's dangerous. What if she was sent here by the shady organization who trained her as an assassin? She could be after any one of us or all of us. From the sounds of it this ' Octon' if they're anything like Hydra probably see us as a threat." Clint said stepping forward. Tony didn't seem to be listening and was texting Happy his pizza order.
"Well, we will keep an eye on her and I'll call Maria and her tell that the girl is awake. Fury will probably want to question her himself. " Pepper said, pulling up a live video of Briar Rose/Marie's bedroom.
They all watched the video as the girl walked to the desk, pulled her satchel onto it, and pulled out her journal and sketch pencils. She than went to the bed, fixed the covers, crawled into the middle, sat up straight, cross legged, opened her journal, and start to draw. Her hands were moving quickly in a rhythmic way, but her eyes were fixed on something outside the window. Her eyes never blinked or moved from what they were looking at, her expression never changed, and her hands never stopped, or slowed down. She just kept staring and drawing.
All of them in the room watching the live video were transfixed as they watched her hands move. Then as Happy Hogan entered the area carrying several pizza boxes they jerked out of what ever kind of trance her movements had put them under.
"Here you go. Three boxes of pepperoni, three boxes of cheese, and three boxes of Hawaiian. Flown in from New York by your newest creation. Though I think you need to think of a better name for it. The I'm Hungry Bot? Really?" Happy asked half
heartedly as if he knew it would be useless to argue with the billionaire.
"Thank you Happy. I like to be honest when I name things. Just look at the Iron Man suit. It's metal and a man fits inside. See? Simple, honest and to the point. That's how I roll ."
Almost everyone there either chuckled or rolled their eyes. Too used to putting up with Stark to really care.
"I'm not going to argue with you. I'll just drop off the pizza and then I'm going home to catch up on some sleep." Happy said as he turned back to the hallway and walked away declining Stark's invitation to stay and eat with them. After he had left they all turned back to the screen.
Briar Rose/Marie had finished sketching and had the journal laying down flat in front of her and she was contemplating it. Tony zoomed in on the picture.
It was a sketch that almost looked like a black and white photo of a spider on it's web, fixing a loose strand. The web seemed to be outside in a corner.
"The detail on that is amazing. She is super talented." Bruce said quietly in a slightly stunned voice and as if the girl had heard or sensed him, looked straight at the camera and without looking away slowly closed the journal, slipped off the bed, moved to a spot on the floor, and started to draw the camera. Or maybe she was drawing the people watching the camera. But that wasn't impossible. Or was it? They didn't have a good idea of her powers or how they worked. For all they knew she could see them.
They turned off the screen, just in case.

Chapter Five
Briar Rose/Maria's P.O.V.
Journal Entry No.3
I pulled out my journal, and sketch pencils, fixed the covers, crawled into the middle of the bed, sat up straight with my legs in the pretzel position and looked out the window for something to draw. I spotted a spider in the corner outside trying really hard to fix it's web. I opened my journal deciding that it was the perfect subject. I studied the spider, it's web, and the building around it as I drew. I had had people ask me why I never looked at the paper when I drew. I never answered them unless they wouldn't leave me alone. But if I had to answer I would always answer the same way. "If I can't trust my eyes and hands to work with each other than I have no right to be drawing." Most people would walk away confused or thoughtful, but some people just kept on asking dumb questions. If this situation happened I would meet their eyes and give them a hard look. This always stopped the talking and the people would move on and they would never look at me again. I didn't know if this was because of my scarlet eye color or if it was the hard look. But I was always pleased with the results.
I drew for about 15-20 minutes then when I finished I set it down in front of me and studied it for a moment, then light reflected off something in the corner near the ceiling. I looked and saw a security camera. Without looking away I slowly closed the journal. Then I realized that the camera would be an interesting thing to draw. I had never drawn anything like that before.
I paid special attention on my reflection in the lens and the lights on the side.
It took about 20 minutes to complete. When I finished I closed the journal, got up, put it on the desk, and sat down on the bed.
Well, what should I do now? I thought.
I wandered into the living room and went over to the tiny kitchen.
I looked around. There was a mini fridge, a microwave, and a small pantry. There was also some plastic dishes. I opened the pantry and took out a small bag of mini Oreos and grabbed a small water bottle from the mini fridge. I went to the couch, turned on the TV, and looked for something to watch. I didn't know many movies or shows so I picked a kids movie that had just started. It was called Frozen and so far I liked it. Especially Elsa because of her pretty hair and powers.
Right after the part where Elsa hit Anna in the heart someone knocked on the door.
I went over to it and opened the door after pausing the movie.
Pepper stood there and I gave her a small smile. She smiled back cheerfully. "Can I come in?" She asked softly and I nodded.
I was most relaxed with Pepper out of all the people I had met that day. She was just a very motherly person and she always made sure I wasn't uncomfortable. I appreciated that a lot about her.
She walked in and looked at the TV.
"Do you like Disney movies?" She asked me as she walked over to the cabinet under the TV. I nodded then realized she had her back to me. "Yeah. I don't know what is for my age group and what isn't so I watch Disney princess movies." She nodded and opened the cabinet to reveal all of the Disney princess movies and some other Disney classics all on DVD or Blue Ray. I smiled widely and Pepper gave a soft laugh at the look on my face.
"Well I think I know what you will be doing in your spare time. " She said still laughing lightly. I tilted my head slightly to the left and asked. "What do you mean in my spare time?"
"Well, we've decided that you are going to stay here for a while. Is that okay?" She asked softly and I nodded. "We'll be giving you things to do so you don't get bored and tomorrow some friends are coming over and their going to ask you a few questions."
I nodded and then thinking the situation called for more said. "Okay.
Will you be there?" I asked shyly. She smiled sweetly and nodded. "Of course if that makes you feel better."
I nodded happily and gave her a small smile.
"Well, it's almost time for dinner and you never got lunch so, do you want to get something to eat?" I nodded. She led me out of the room to a large kitchen with a casual seating area.
"We have almost every kind of cereal, waffles both homemade and freezer, same for the pancakes, um, we've got doughnuts, eggs, bacon, breakfast shakes, and every type of fruit.
Does anything sound appealing? Sorry it's all breakfast food. We ordered pizza for lunch and most of the others go out for dinner somewhere else at the local towns. Like, I know Steve meets up with Bucky Barnes at a old fashion dinner once a week. We have pizza I can heat up if you want." She offered me as she looked for stuff in the cabinets and the pantry.
"Can I make my own dinner please?" I asked nervously. She looked surprised but not offended. "Can you cook?" She asked and I nodded. She looked relieved then laughed lightly at my quizzical expression and explained.
"To be honest, I hate cooking and getting messy." I smiled.
"So is it okay if I make my own food?" I asked Pepper and she nodded.
"I'll be in my office it's just down the hall. If you need anything Friday or me are more than happy to help." Pepper told me. "Thank you. I appreciate it." I said quietly forcing myself to look her in the eye. She smiled again, nodded, and left the room.

Chapter Six
Briar Rose/Maria's P.O.V
Journal Entry No.4
I had ten milkshakes lined up on the counter.
"Friday? Can you tell everyone
that there is a treat for them in
here?" I asked nervously.
"Yes ma'am. You're in luck. Everyone who was there in the common area is still in the building." Friday replied evenly.
I nodded, walked over to the sitting area, pulled one of the chairs into the corner, sat down pulling my legs up to my chest, and sipped my own personalized milkshake.
The milkshakes were lined up in a row with a card that had their name in my best cursive handwriting on it.
Everyone trickled in slowly. Each of them picking up their card, reading the name, opening it up, and reading the list of their favorite ingredients that Friday found for me.
"Who did this?" Asked Natasha looking pleased and a little confused.
"Yeah, which ones of you know how to make a milkshake." Tony asked. "No. I'm serious let's see a show of hands."
Steve raised his hand, shifting his weight from one foot to the another, so did Wanda, and to Stark's surprise Clint raised his hand looking slightly embarrassed.
"Okay. How do you guys know that?" Asked Stark curiously.
"I worked at a soda fountain place when I was fifteen." Steve answered.
"I made them for my brother." Said Wanda looking a little sad.
"My daughter loves them so I make them homemade when ever I'm home." Clint said avoiding Stark's gaze and instead looking at Natasha who nodded with a smile.
Just then Pepper walked in.
"What's going on?" She looked around at everyone standing around with a milkshake in their hands.
"What's with the milkshakes?" She asked Stark looking totally confused.
"We don't know who made them but they have all our favorite ingredients in them and they're really good!" Answered Clint enthusiastically.
She went over to the counter and picked up her milkshake, sipped it, and read the list of ingredients.
"Wow. These are really good. You really don't know who made them?"
I scanned the room to see if anyone noticed me.
Bruce Banner was walking over to Stark.
As I watched he nudged him. Stark looked at him and Banner nodded in my direction. I pulled my knees closer to me as Stark searched the shadows for what Banner was trying to show him. He found me after a second and caught Steve's eye who followed his gaze and picked me out among the shadows. Then Clint, Natasha, and Sam who had been talking to Steve with their backs to me turned around to see what he was looking at, which then caught the attention of Rhodey, Pepper, and Wanda who then also looked at me.
I could feel my cheeks heat up and I averted my eyes to the ground.
"Did you make these?" Asked Wanda softly. I nodded.
"Great now she's bribing us."
Clint scoffed and I shook my head slightly.
"I wanted to thank you for everything. But I also need answers. You questioned me now let me question you." I said more boldly than I meant to.
I waited.
"That seems fair. You guys good with it?" Steve said looking around at the others. They all nodded or agreed. "Where do you want to do it?"
I hesitated. I didn't like being the one to make decisions and I had only seen a couple of rooms so far.
"Um. In the common area we were in before is fine."
We walked to the common area and everyone else sat down on a semi circle couch. I pulled a small armchair to face all of them and started my interrogation.
"How did you find me?"
"I'll take this one." Stark said projecting some images from his phone into the center of the circle.
"I programmed Friday to tell me if there was anything unusual. I got a couple hits a day. Most of them were petty crime. Until about three months ago when someone reported that a mountain had been completely imploded with no sign of explosives. Seeing the alert on my phone gave me a weird feeling so I checked it out. I found a video of a girl around fourteen blowing up a mountain. I tracked you with facial recognition software but, everytime I'd get a hit by the time I would get there you would be gone. It was merely chance that I was in the area that you were in when I picked you up."
The images were all of her in different places. In a mall, in a musem, at a park.
"How did you get these?"
I asked him softly.
"I hacked into security cameras of course. I mean it's not hard if your a genius like me."
I groaned. If Stark could find me through the security cameras then Octon could find me too.
"Do you have security cameras here?" I asked Pepper.
My tone had changed and my hands were shaking slightly. I could tell she was caught off guard with the change in my behavior.
"Yes we do. Why do you ask?"
"Could someone hack them too? Like how Stark hacked the others?"
Everyone was watching me except Banner. He seemed to be the only one to understand what I was getting at. He stood up and went over to the holographic screen Stark had been using earlier and was checking the security cameras in the area.
"Um, guys? What day is S.H.I.E.L.D. coming because there are men in military grade bullet proof suits surrounding the building." Banner informed them.
"Oh no. Oh no. This is my fault."
I looked up at Pepper."They're here for me and you can't stop them."
"We need to go. Now. Bruce, you and Pepper should find somewhere safe. We will come and get you when it's okay to come out. The rest of you, suit up." Rodgers said to the the silent room, easily taking control of the situation.
All of them moved quickly.
"What about me? You guys don't understand. There is only one person in the world who maybe could stop them."
"Yeah? And who's that?" Asked Tony as he typed on the holographic screen.
"Me."
He looked up and I could tell that wasn't the answer he was expecting.
"Well, then stick with Wanda and try not to do anything stupid." He instucted and I nodded nervously.
I found Wanda in her room pulling on a red jacket.
"Tony said I am to stick with you. Is that okay?"
She nodded.
"Just do exactly what I say."
I nodded giving her a small smile.
We walked out together and meet Natasha in the hallway.
She was dressed in black stealth suit and had two pistols in hip-holsters. It was like seeing a whole different person.
We meet up with the others in the common area. All of them were in dressed in their superhero costumes or suits.
"Turn the girl over and we'll leave you in peace. If you resist then we will kill you all slowly and painfully."
The voice came from the air it self. Having no true origin.
"Yeah. Like you won't kill us right after we hand her over." Clint muttered quietly to himself.
But the voice seemed to have heard him anyway.
"You have my word that neither you or your building will be harmed if you hand her over. You don't even know who she really is.
I am not talking about her name. I am talking about what she has done. She leveled a mountain that was a common hiking place, she has killed thousands, and she was the only one to survive our experiments out of many people. Isn't that right Briar Rose?
You see we made a weapon out of her.
She belongs to us. To me. And you can't stop me from taking her. You can't stop me."
"Maybe we can't but I'm willing to try."
Steve informed the voice.
"And as to the things she's done, we have all done things we're going to regret for the rest of our lives."
Added Clint boldly.
And as one they all moved to surround me.
"We won't let them take you."
Sam reasured me quietly.
"You can't stop them. They will kill you."
I told him.
"Thanks for the vote of confidence kid."
Muttered Sam under his breath.
There was a bang and a crash that shook the whole building and a hole was blow open in the wall near the couches. Several of the military men stormed in with their guns aimed at me.

Briar Rose/ Marie's P.O.V.
Journal Entry No.5
There were several gunshots followed by the sound of the bullets pinging off something.
I looked up to see Captain America standing infront of me, blocking the bullets with his shield.
"Split up! Marie, You stay with Clint and Wanda!"
Steve yelled over the gunfire.
War-Machine and Iron Man charged through the men and out of the hole.
Captain America, Falcon and Black Widow started to fight the men Stark and Rhodey hadn't knocked down.
"Come on Kid! You have to stick with me and Wanda!" Clint yelled as he started to run out the door into the yard.
I shook myself mentally and ran after him and Wanda.
"Head for the trees!! We can lose them in the woods!"
Clint shouted back a me and Wanda. We both nodded and speed up to match pace with Clint.
We ran into the woods and stopped in a clearing.
"I don't think they followed us."
Clint said quietly. He turned to me.
"Who was that voice and where was it coming from?"
I sighed.
"Silas J. Ola. He is a hacker and one of the head scientists for Octon."
*And always over dramatic* She added to herself.
"My guess about how we heard him is he used the unnecessary speakers that Stark put everywhere around the compound and he heard you guys through your phones."
Just as I finished explaining Clint pulled me to his side and Wanda moved to my other side.
Clint slipped an arrow into his bow and Wanda's hands had scarlet energy twisting along the fingertips.
"What is it? What did you hear?"
Clint lifted his bow and shot an arrow into the upper branches of a tree. There was a groan and a Octon soldier fell out from his hiding place and fell about ten feet to the ground.
"We have to move. He might of called for backup." Clint whispered to the two of us.
He led us deeper into the woods.
"Hey, Clint. Over here."
It was Steve and the others were with him.
"What are you doing here?"
Clint asked Steve quietly.
"We were fighting them when the voice spoke again and told them you three were heading into the forrest. They stopped fighting and ran to the woods to head you off. We followed but they were too far ahead and we lost them.
Are you guys okay?"
"We're fine. Marie said that the guy's name is Silas J. Ola. He's a hacker and scientist for Octon. He used the security cameras to track her, the speakers to talk to us, and our phones to listen to us."
Steve blinked at Clint for a minute than took out his phone, put it on the ground, and brought his shield crashing down on it.
The others took out their phones and busted them too.
"Friday?"
"Yes Mr. Stark?"
"Text Pepper and tell her 'they are listening. Destroy your phone. Same for Banner.' Can you do that? Thank you."
"Yes Mr. Stark."
"I don't need your phones if I have your ear pieces." Ola's voice informed us.
They all took out their ear pieces and crushed them under their heels as I watched.
"I don't need those either. But I'll let you figure out where my voice is coming from by your selves."
"What else could he hack?" Steve asked Tony.
"Wait. If he hacked your ear pieces then how could I hear him? I don't have an ear piece."
I asked, turning to Steve.
"Because he hacked Friday. You're hearing it from my suit. It's bouncing off the trees so you can't locate it.
Just then, as if he had been waiting for us to solve his puzzle Silas Ola grabbed me from behind and put a very long and very sharp knife to my throat.
"Nobody move or she dies."
"Let her go!"
Wanda yelled.
"Ah. The original. Your remake was much better than you. With the small drawback of unwillingness to follow orders.
Now don't do anything stupid or I slit her throat and if you've heard her sing you know that would quite a shame.
Now back away slowly and put any weapons on the ground. You two in the suits, take them off or whatever. Do it. NOW!!"
Steve was the first one to move. He laid his shield on the ground and the others followed.
Natasha's guns, Clint's bow and arrows, and Sam's wing suit joined Steve's shield.
Rhodey and ( a little reluctantly) Stark stepped out of their suits which closed behind them.
"Good. Now me and the girl will be leaving now if you don't mind."
"I'm afraid we do mind. You can't take her."
Clint told Silas.
"Yeah? And who is going to stop me? If you so much as move I'll slit her throat."
Tony was the next to speak.
"The only person in the world who can."
I paled.
"And who is that supposed to be? You Stark?"
Ola asked with a scoff.
"No. Not me. Her."
At that moment Silas's knife turned to paper and I moved. I pushed past the knife and moved away from him.
He threw a punch which I dodged. I grabbed his wrist as it flew past me with his fist and spun him around. He fell hard to the ground and I moved instinctively to him, putting my hand on his back I kept him pinned to the ground. He tried to get up but I was too strong and held him there.
"Get off of me!!"
"Surrender first."
"Never!"
There was a gunshot and a bullet scraped past my left shoulder. I was spun around and fell to the ground from the force of it.
Ola got up, stuck his arm straight up in the air and before any of them could do anything an Octon soldier with a jetpack and helmet grabbed Ola by his wrist and flew away with him.
There was one last command for the Octon soldiers.
"Return to base and kill anyone who follows you. That does not include each other."
"Wait, they killed each other in the past? What kind of soldiers are they?" Sam said looking repulsed.
Natasha walked over and held out her hand to help me up. I took it and she pulled me to my feet.
"You did good. You're a good fighter."
"Thank you. And thank you for putting your weapons down. I really think he would have killed me." I said in a voice as quiet as a breeze.
"But he still needs you right? If he killed you than he wouldn't be able to use you for something evil."
Rhodey asked looking confused.
"Octon either get's me or no one does. I know to much about their organizion. I'm a loose end that needs to be tied."
"And you're too powerful."
Added Wanda.
"We should go find Pepper and Bruce and take any Octon soldiers in for questioning. They might know something."
We all started to walk back to the compound.
Tony and Rhodey dragged the men into cells and everyone met in Tony's lab.
Banner and Pepper unlocked the door and let us in. On the wall across from the door the was a large flat screen TV. There was a video playing on it. It was a live video from Stark's helmet. Tony set his helmet on a table in front of me. I appeared on the screen.
There was blood dripping down my neck.
Even though the knife was turned to paper it was still as sharp as ever.
"Oh my gosh!"
Pepper ran to hug Tony.
"We watched it all through your live feed from your helmet. Wait, where's Marie?"
She turned around to face me.
"Ohmygoshyourbleeding!"
She ran over to me and started to wipe the blood from my neck.
"Good thing it's not deep. You must have been so scared. I'm so proud of you."
She gave me a small smile.
"You're not scared of me?"
I asked completely confused.
"What do you mean? Why would I be scared of you?"
"Because she bent his spine when he tried to get up." Bruce answered as he watched a replay of the video feed.
They all looked at him.
"When he tried to get up she pressed too hard in an atempt to hold him down." Bruce explained.
"Then how did he get back up? If his spine was bent he would have had some sort of paralysis." Rhodey asked Bruce
I was the one to answer.
"Because it wasn't permanent. I have to…. I don't know how to explain it…desire for it to be permanent. You guys really don't know what I can do, do you?"
"Are you going to tell us or do we have to guess?" Natasha asked sarcastically.
"May I have a flat piece of metal? So I can demonstrate."
Natasha walked over to the table that had Stark's helmet on it and picked a thin, square piece of steel. She handed it to me and I walked over to a desk chair, sat down, and set it on my knees.
Tony walked over with his helmet so he could record my demonstration.
The rest of them gathered around to watch.
I felt the power flowing through me. From my heart to my fingertips. The energy spun and collected in my hands.
The metal on my lap became flexible and bendy. I molded it quickly into a Black Widow spider. It became black, textured and shiny. The only thing that retained the metal's texture was the diamond shape, the color of blood.
"Here. It's for you."
I handed it to Natasha.
"Wow. Thanks." She said looking amazed.
Bruce reached out for it and she handed it to him. He studied it for a minute. "This is amazing. even the textures have changed. To what scale can you do this?"
He handed it back to Natasha as he waited for an answer.
I hesitated.
"I could change the world if I wanted to. I can change the little things and the big things. I can change people and animals.…"
I explained quietly.
"Great. So what you're saying is you're unstoppable."
Rhodey said crossing his arms.
I hesitated again.
"Not how I would put it but, yeah. If I had the right motivation."
"What do you mean 'right the motivation'?"
Sam asked, sitting down on a couch.
"Emotions."
Clarified Wanda.
"At least if her powers are anything like mine."
She looked at me nervously.
"They are. Our powers are fueled by our emotions. The stronger the emotion the stronger the power. But I don't want you to worry about it. I have found ways to stay calm. I can control it."
I assured her.
"As long as you can control it. Now, what should we do now? Fury comes tomorrow and Octon just attacked the compound." Steve asked the room at large.
"Personally I just want to go to bed."
Pepper said with a deep sigh.
"You girls can go to bed. We'll figure it out."
Stark said kissing Pepper on the cheek.
Pepper nodded and yawning left the room.
Wanda followed Pepper sleepily.
"Aren't you coming?" Natasha asked. She was still holding her spider.
I shook my head. I was wide awake.
"Can I stay in here?" I asked the men.
Steve and Tony spoke at the same time.
"Yeah." Said Steve.
"No." Said Tony.
They looked at each other.
"She could be an Octon spy." Said Tony quietly to Steve.
"I think she's proven herself tonight Tony."
"Then how does she know so much about them?" Tony asked.
"If you spent seven years in their secret base like I did you would pick up on who people were and what they do in different situations." I said defensively.
He didn't answer and it looked like I won that round.
I turned to Steve.
"May I have a First aid kit? To patch up my arm."
He nodded going over to a wall of shelves. He took a large First aid kit off the top shelf and handed it to me.
I went back over to the desk chair but didn't sit in it. Instead I sat next to it on the floor and put the First aid kit in front of me.
Tony was watching me suspiciously so I moved over a little so I was still in view of his helmet.
He gave a small grunt and turned back to Steve.
"I say we don't tell Eye Patch about the attack. He'll take over. If we don't bring him into this part of the building than he'll never know. He will come in, question Keller, and leave. That's my two cents." Stark told Steve.
I opened the First aid kit and looked through the contents. I rolled my sleeve up to my shoulder and observed the damage.
The cut wasn't deep enough for stitches. It was a long gash. Luckily the bullet had only grazed me.
I cleaned the wound and wrapped a bandage around my arm.
I looked up to see both Steve and Tony looking at me and the other men on the assorted couches and chairs. Knowing I had missed something they said, asked. "What?"
"I just asked you if that was your first fire-fight." Explained Tony looking slightly annoyed.
A memory that I had been trying to surpress flashed in front of my eyes.
*Bullets flew past me as I ran along the stone hallway. "Shoot her! Shoot her! Don't aim to kill. I want her alive!" A man with a Russian accent barked at the Octon soldiers.
I could hear their footsteps catching up with me. I knew I would never be able to out run them. I turned to the men and they stopped, keeping a safe distance.
I sent a large, red, energy wave down the hallway at them. They all took a few nervous steps backwards, looking at themselves and each other for signs of what the energy wave did. The man with the Russian accent caught up with his soldiers. "What are you waiting for? SHOOT HER!! If I can't have her no one can!" He screamed at the soldiers angrily.
They started to shoot at me without coming any closer. Stone hands reached from the wall and grabbed the bullets from the air so fast the soldiers weren't sure what they had seen. They all blinked almost simultaneously.
"Just grab her you idiots!" The man yelled, stamping his foot. They all ran at me, trying to get to me. The stone hands reached out and grabbed the men. Thrashing and screaming the men tried to fight the hands. They beat the hands with their fists or tried to shoot the hands with their guns. They couldn't beat them. They were consumed by the stone walls. Their outlines and expressions of terrible pain still visible.
"Don't move or I'll blow your brains out Witch." A voice with a Russian accent said from behind me. "Turn around. Slowly." The man ordered. I turned around slowly. "You are misbehaving. There will be punishment." He told me and I nodded slowly. He lifted his gun and hit me hard on the head.
I woke up three days later in my cell.*
"Hey. You still with us kid?" Sam asked interrupting the memory.
"Huh? Oh, yeah."
I turned to Stark.
"Yeah. I've been in a fire-fight before." I answered hesitantly.
"When? From what you told us you grew up in a lab." He asked rudely.
"Tony. Leave her alone she's been through a lot tonight." Rhodey scolded quietly.
Steve turned to me.
"You should probably go to bed too. You have a long day tomorrow."
I nodded, closed the First aid kit, and got up. I walked to the doorway.
"Goodnight." I muttered.
I might just update on Tuesdays and Fridays....

Chapter Eight
Briar Rose / Marie's P.O.V.
Journal Entry No.6
I woke up the next day to someone knocking on my bedroom door.
"Hello? Are you awake? I need to talk with you." It was Pepper.
I rolled out of bed and landed cat like on the floor. I stood up and walked over to the door. I was still in some cozy PJs Pepper left on my bed the night before.
I opened the door and immediately took a step back.
Pepper was standing there with Wanda.
Wanda was holding a small duffel bag.
"Good morning!" Pepper greeted me.
"Listen, I know this is short notice but, Wanda needs a place to lie low while S.H.I.E.L.D. is poking around. Could she stay on an inflatable mattress in your spare room?" Pepper begged.
I nodded and moved a side to let them into the bedroom. They walked over to the door that led into the empty room.
Pepper and Wanda hung out in the living room while I took a quick shower and got dressed.
I put on a white t-shirt, a pink fuzzy sweater over top, black leggings, black bobby socks, and the flowery Vans. To my delight the outfit also had a white lace headband with tiny pink flowers on it.
After I got dressed and hung up my towel I walked to the door to the living room and opened it slightly. Pepper and Wanda were talking softly.
"Why can't I stay with Natasha?" Wanda asked Pepper.
"Because I think you need to get to know Marie. She's a nice girl and you two have a lot in common. And Natasha agrees with me. Maybe you could talk about your powers." Pepper explained as Wanda looked at her doubtfully.
"Listen, what happened to Marie wasn't your fault. You didn't know. None of us did."
Pepper reassured her.
"I think I did." Wanda said quietly looking up to meet Pepper's eyes.
"When we went to help Tony pick her up I tried to reach inside her mind. Something blocked me. Marie cried out in pain and I was repelled backwards. I didn't tell anyone this but when the girl cried out I saw a memory that wasn't mine.
A man was doing some kind of test on her. She was chained to a metal chair. He was trying to put some kind of helmet on her. She was thrashing and screaming, trying to get away from him. The helmet imploded and the metal from it cut the man all over the face.
He yelled at her and a woman came in with two soldiers. They unchained her and dragged her away to a room full of briars like she said. It was terrible Pepper. Every time she would move the thorns would cut deeply into her skin. I felt her pain, I felt her terror. It was so real. She was only ten or so in the memory. It was like the worst nightmare ever."
Wanda said with a shudder.
Pepper was quiet while Wanda was describing my memory. She only spoke when Wanda had finnished.
"I'm not sure why you didn't tell any of us but, I think you should talk to Marie about it." Pepper advised her.
"Maybe she will open up to you. She has been through a lot but, she is strong."
Before this could become a pity party I closed the door silently and opened it loudly again.
"So, when is S.H.I.E.L.D. coming to question me?" I asked Pepper, avoiding eye contact with both of them.
"Ms. Potts, Nicholas J. Fury is entering the building. Tony said to tell you to come to the conference room with Miss Keller." Friday informed Pepper.
"Okay Friday. Please tell Tony we'll be right down."
The TV flicked on and a thumbs up emoji appeared on the screen.
"Well, I think me and Marie should go downstairs. Wanda, You good up here? Do you need anything?"
Wanda shook her head and pulled out her phone. "I'll see if Maria Hill will let me watch through the security cameras from here."
Pepper and me walked to the elevator. We went down to the lobby and got out. Pepper led me to the conference room where Stark was waiting with two other people I didn't recognized. The first was a woman with dark hair in a tight bun. Her features were all business but her eyes were kind. The second was a dark man with several scars and an eye patch. His features were not as kind. I could tell he had had a tough life.
"Marie, this is Director Fury and Agent Hill. They are going to ask you a few questions." Pepper said introducing me. I nodded to them in turn avoiding eye contact.
"Pleasure to meet you Miss Keller." Fury greeted me.
"Shall we go in?" I asked quietly.
"Yes. But I have a condition." Fury said. Pepper, me, and Stark all looked at him.
"No one but me, the girl and Agent Hill are going to be in there. The rest can watch the security cameras if they want." He said.
"You mean Pepper can't be in there?" I asked nervously. Only making eye contact for a second.
"Exactly. I'm glad you catch on quickly."
He said it in a way that made you unsure if he was paying you a compliment or if he was insulting you.
I looked up at Pepper and she gave me a reassuring smile.
"It's okay. I know you'll be great." She said encouragingly. I meet her eyes. Even though her smile was bright and reassuring her eyes were nervous and concerned.
I gave her a small smile.
"Thanks Miss Potts."
She pulled me to the side out of ear shot of the others. "Just so you know, you can always say *pass* if the question makes you uncomfortable. You don't need to tell them anything you don't want to. Okay?" Her eyes were caring, but anxious.
I nodded.
"I'll be fine. You don't have to worry." I reassured her. She nodded and took a few deep breathes. "Sorry. I know you can take care of yourself. You'll be fine." She said apologetically. She laid her hand on my shoulder and led me back to the others.
"Are we ready to go in now?" Fury asked me rather rudely. I nodded and he led me into the conference room.
Fury and Hill sat across from me at the really long, shiny table.
"Pepper sent me all the information you told her so unless you want to change anything from your original statement I think we'll move on. Do you have anything else to add to your original statement?" Maria Hill asked as she pulled something up on a thin tablet. Both their eyes were on me. I shook my head trying to remember how much I had told Pepper.

Happy Thanksgiving!!
Chapter Nine
No one's P.O.V.
Meanwhile in Tony's lab Pepper was sitting on a plaid couch facing the large flat screen TV.
"I just don't know how to connect with her. Everytime I think we're bonding she pulls away." Pepper confessed to Tony.
"Don't worry about it. She'll open up eventually." He assured her.
"But she's so quiet. She doesn't ever let on that anythings bothering her." Pepper said softly.
"Last night Wanda, Nat, and me heard her having a nightmare. It was awful. She was screaming and begging not to be thown back into the Briar Room. It was heart breaking to listen to. Wanda was in tears. She blames herself for what happened to Marie. I just don't know how to handle it all. " Pepper whispered. Tony's expression softened and he walked over to her. "If any one can do it it's you." He assured her, sitting down beside her. She leaned her head on his shoulder.
"I'm glad you're here to help as best you can." Pepper said half teasing.

Chapter Ten
Marie's P.O.V.
Journal Entry No.7
Back in the conference room.
"So, Miss Keller, please describe in your own words the effect of your powers." Fury instructed.
I thought about it.
"Well, I can bend…change.. break and rebuild reality with the right motivation." I explained hesitantly.
"By *right motivation* you mean emotions. Like Wanda's powers, right?" Asked Agent Hill.
"Exactly."I answered quietly. "My powers are strongest when I'm scared, angery, or depressed. Like when Wanda was protecting the core in Sokovia from Ultron, she realized that her brother had died and she vaporized all of the minions within a mile radious."
Fury and Hill exchanged a look.
"You are conparing yourself to The Scarlet Witch?" Fury asked with raised eyebrows.
"Wanda is very unique and irreplaceable to the world. But I was designed by Octon to replace her." I said to the two surprised people sitting across from me.
Fury was the next to speak.
"Is that a threat against Wanda?"
I kept eye contact with Fury as I answered.
"I was designed to replace the experiment Hydra lost. They slipped up with me though. Octon couldn't brain wash me 'cause it could cause brain damage since I'm so young and they were not kind to me all the years I was there so, it didn't make me want to be a part of their evil organization. Pepper was one of the first people to show me kindness."
"How did you know about Sokovia if you were raised away from the world?" Hill asked, crossing her arms and giving me a suspicious look.
"They wanted me to become an agent so I had to blend in. If I didn't know about a major crisis I would stick out. "
I explained.
"Please describe your physical abilities. " Hill instructed as she typed up my answers on her tablet.
I hesitated.
"Well?" Fury pressed
"I can hold my own. " I answered evasively.
Fury seemed to understand that I wasn't going to answer.
"How long were on the run before Stark brought you here?" Hill asked.
I thought about it.
I didn't even know what month it was.
"What month is it?" I asked Hill.
"October." She replied looking slightly surprised.
It had been August the day I got away.
"Two months. I think." I replied hesitantly.
Fury and Hill exchanged surprised looks.
"How did you survive?" Hill asked.
"People take pity on orphans. They would give me food and water. I had a tent I would set up in the woods. A homeless man gave it to me when he got a job." I explained.
"Where is the tent now?" Fury asked.
"I set in up in a small area of woods one night. Apparently it was private property. Someone called the police on me. I had to leave the tent and everything in it where it was. The next day Stark brought me here." I said quietly.
"Next question. Why do you stay here with the Avengers? " Hill asked.
"I'm tired of running. They seem like good people." I answered shortly with a shrug.
Fury and Hill questioned me for another half hour. They wanted to know everything about me. Where I went while I was running from Octon. What my grandparent's names were. If I remembered any other relatives. Where my parents were born. If I had any pets growing up. Questions I didn't think were important.
I tried to answer as many as I could but, I didn't know many of the answers.
Finally Fury looked at his watch and announced he had to go.
"I am leaving Agent Hill here to update me on the situation." He told Tony and Pepper as they entered the room together.
"And Stark, do NOT try to hide anything from me or Hill." He added.
"Like what? Be cause there are several things I haven't told you." Tony said arrogantly as he looked up from his phone.
"I mean something like a murder bot that wants to destroy the human race." Fury answered pointedly.
"To be fair Bruce was my partner so he also built Ultron and he is the deep thinker out of the two of us so it's his fault Ultron thought too much about his mission and tried to kill us. It's all Banner's fault." His face was working hard to look innocent. He couldn't quite pull it off.
Fury sighed. "Just don't create anything that will try to kill us. It's been a long decade."
He walked down the hall.
"Hill, keep an eye out." He called over his shoulder.
"Why don't Marie and me walk with you to your room. I'm sure you want to settle in." Pepper said to Agent Hill.
The three of us walked down the hall together to the elevator. Pepper and Maria were catching up while I followed a little behind.
I could tell that they got along well and were happy to see each other again.
When we reached the girl's floor Maria went to go settle in, Pepper went to go ask Tony about some business stuff, and I entered my room.
*What Disney Movie should I watch now?*
I went over to the TV cabinet and looked for an interesting title.
I pulled one out called *Tangled* and put it in the DVD player.
Rapunzel had just captured Flynn Rider when I heard a door open behind me.
I turned around to see Wanda standing there on her phone.
I had forgotten she was staying the night.
She looked up at the TV and smiled.
"That one's my favorite. I always wanted to have hair that long." She said as she walked over to the other end of the couch and sat down.
"I watched the interrogation through the security cameras. I thought it was stupid for him to think you would remember all of that."
She added softly and I nodded.
I could tell she was trying hard to start a conversation but, I wasn't good at conversing so I didn't know how to help.
"So what is your favorite Disney movie so far?"
Wanda asked, breaking the silence.
I thought about it.
"Frozen. I think." I answered hesitantly.
"Did you know that there is a second movie?" Wanda asked.
She laughed lightly at the look of glee on my face.
"I think I know what movie your going to be watching next." She said with a giggle.
Silence stretched.
"So, I thought we could take this time to get to know each other. If that's okay with you." Wanda suggested nervously.
"What's your favorite color?" I asked quietly.
"Red. What's yours ?" Wanda asked as her face lit up.
"Ice blue." I answered.
I could feel myself relaxing.
"Why *ice* blue?" Wanda asked curiously.
"My mothers eyes were ice blue. So were mine before I got my powers." I answered thoughtfully.
Wanda's face turned from interested to thoughtful.
"But, can't you just change your appearance with your powers?" She pointed out.
I blinked.
I had never thought about it.
"Go ahead. Try to make your eyes blue." Wanda took out her phone.
"What's that for?"
"I want to record it. So you can show Pepper later." She said as she pressed the red button.
I took a deep breath, flicked my wrist and felt the energy center on my eyes. It wasn't comfortable, nor was it painful but it did take a lot of concentration.
"You did it!!" Wand cheered.
I got up and walked quickly over to the mirror over the kitchen sink.
I gasped as I saw my appearance.
My eyes had turned a perfect ice blue. Just like they were before I got my powers.
"They look like my mother's eyes." I whispered.
I walked back over to Wanda.
"Can tell me more about your mom?" Wanda asked tentatively.
"Well." I started. "She was beautiful, kind, and strong yet delicate.
She could sing beautifully and her hair reached past her back.
She grew up in the British countryside.
We used to visit her childhood home on school breaks.
She always kept her cool in stressful situations and she was the one everyone would come to if they had a problem.
On Saturday mornings she would bake cinnamon rolls for breakfast and if I woke up early enough she would let me help.
To me when I was little she was perfect."
I could feel Wanda's eyes on me as I sat down next to her.
"Thank you for telling me about her. She sound's perfect." Wanda said softly as she laid a hand on my shoulder for a moment.
"Well since Fury left and I'm friends with Maria I guess I don't have to stay here tonight. How about I grab my stuff and we can go see what everyone else is doing. You good with that?" Wanda continued as she got up and started to make her way to the spare room.
"Sure."
We stopped at Wanda's room and she put her stuff inside.
Wanda led me to a training room on the ground floor.
Steve and Natasha were sparring inside of a large circle on the floor and so far Natasha was winning.
Tony, and Bruce were helping Rhodey with his physical therapy in the corner behind the exercise machines and Sam, Clint, and Maria Hill were doing target practice in a room that branched off of the training room with a large window so you could see in.
Wanda walked over to the corner where Rhodey was doing his exercises.
"How's it going over here?" Wanda asked Rhodey as he let out a groan.
"Tony made me a new set but they're too tight." He explained in a squeaky, high voice with a wince.
"Sorry buddy. I'll loosen them for you." He said, clapping him on the back as he knelt down with a screw driver.
After a few seconds the left leg brace loosened and his leg relaxed. Stark did the same thing on the right leg brace and Rhodey let out a sigh.
"That feels much better."
I walked over to a spot on the floor out of the way and sat down, watching Steve and Natasha training.
Steve had a lot of power behind his fist but Natasha was faster and more flexible.
Every time she'd dodge a punch she would punch him in the leg or ribs.
"Hey kid. Whatcha doing?" A voice asked from behind me. I turned to see Sam standing in the doorway of the target room.
"Just watching." I answered shyly, avoiding eye contact.
He came over and sat down beside me with a deep sigh.
"I have helped a lot of people with rough pasts and scars learn how to deal with it and put it behind them. I've seen people an inch from a breakdown and people with so much emotional baggage they can't leave the house.
I've seen people recover and put all of it behind them.
But I can't figure you out. The way you move and talk is so vulnerable yet, every time you tell us about your past you act like you let something slip."
I sat silently as he talked. Not sure how to answer.
"Then the next moment you are standing up to people like Nick Fury and you're almost impossible to recognize.
It's hard to know who you really are. Much less trust you completely." He continued.
I could tell he was waiting for me to respond but I wasn't sure how so, I just stared at my shoes.
Just as Sam opened his mouth to say something else, Steve walked up.
"Hey Sam, want to go a few rounds?"
Sam gave me one last look, then got up and started walking to the circle on the floor.
"Just take it easy on me. I don't have super strength you know."
Hope you enjoyed!!
