Hello!!

So on Tuesday night (yes, I know that was a little while ago) I slammed my right pointer finger (don't worry I am left handed!) in the car door. After a considerable deal of screaming my mom came out and jerked the car door open, freeing my finger. We put ice on it immediately and I took pain meds.

Wednesday morning, I couldn't bend my finger, but I went to school anyways (#smartchoices). It was very numb and quite swollen. Later in the day, I went to the nurse's office and she called my dad to come pick me up. Then we went to the doctors office and they took X-Rays, but it wasn't broken, just sprained. They gave me a splint to wear so that if I go out into public and somebody bumps me, it won't hurt as bad. They also gave me some antibiotics for the cut.

Thursday morning, I stayed home from school because the pain was horrible and it was throbbing pretty bad. I iced it for pretty much the whole day and went outside for about an hour in the afternoon with the splint on.

Friday morning (yesterday), I put my splint on and went to school. After school I headed out to my horseback riding barn to chat with some friends. When I took my finger out of the splint last night, it was stiff and I had trouble bending it (my finger had been in there from about 7:30 AM to 9 PM).

Today I will be mostly staying at home to ice and elevate my finger :)

However the finger still hurts if it is pointed down. There is considerable bruising around the middle of my finger. It is also still very stiff.

Anybody have any tips for helping my finger to quickly recover?

Thanks in advance!!

oof

that doesnt sound fun ):

I sprained my thumb once and it healed in ~2 weeks

I'd try to avoid any activitys that could injure it more

What i did was i wore a bangage thingy for 1 week 24/7 (exept when taking showers and stuff), then started wearing it only at night so i didnt sleep on it and hurt it more.

you should try and ice it when you can, and elevate it. doing that will most likely keep it from throbbing/hurting so much.

sorry if this is usless advice lol

one thing you should deffinetly do is make sure your splint is on correctly and make sure your finger is healing correctly.

i didnt do that and i can pop my thumb out of its socket now and it's not possitioned correctly anymore (which i guess kinda makes me a bit interesting but people stop caring after a bit lol.)

Ouch! When I was little, I got my finger stuck in the car door, and the door locked. The car didn't have a lock remote, so I had to call my dad over to unlock it with the key. The fingernail fell off, and it looked really gross for awhile while the nail grew back. It's mostly normal now, but for years the finger would slightly bleed under the nail from time to time.

This post is a couple weeks old. How's your finger doing now?
