Looks like a dwarf? This is likely cage aggression, although if it's the one in your signature, it appears to happen outside the cage as well, which is less common (but not unheard of). Hamsters with cage aggression tend to be hypervigilant about threats to their territory, which may explain the day waking. It definitely explains the biting and charging. I'd try to never handle inside the cage, if you do need to reach in there- say to feed or check water, do it is quickly and quietly as possible while the hamster is sleeping, or remove them to another cage while you do. To move them from the cage, I'd scoop them up in a container and carry them elsewhere that way. You may find you are then able to handle them away from the cage (just gently pour them out onto your hand so that the never encounter you in an enclosed space, including the scoop container.
