Lucky, just look at the critiques for what they are. Like I said in your other thread, you can teach yourself by going to pslover.com and using google. If you're just fiddling around in photoshop you won't really learn anything new, you know? So don't just give up, take the critiques and look at what you can do. You don't need to download gimp if you have photoshop, but I can assure you gimp does not "mess up" computers. Photoshop is easier to use. I thought you just had paint because of the signatures you showed me.

Well, it seems you've gotten defensive or something. Completely ignored everything I said and responded ot that one thing. But it doesn't matter, you may know your computer, but I've used computers for a long time and they just don't "mess up" when you install something. Unless there is already soemthing wrong with the computer or its a virus. It's up to you what you want to do, like I said before you don't even need GIMP if you have photoshop. :bored:

can you guys critique my past works? i havent made anything for a while but i'll show you all i made xD

Posted Image
first thing i made with a tutorial, the bg is just a brush xD yeah...i was pretty clueless with ps

Posted Image
my first attempt at making a sig with a real pic...didnt turn out so well. im giving this up for a while until i get better xD the bg is just a brush again

Posted Image
i made this for my friend on her request. it's just a brush again -__-

Posted Image
i made this for my other friend. i didnt yet know about using the lasso tool to cut away the bg of pics so thats why its jagged. i used the magic tool and eraser xD

so i did all those over the summer of 06 and i kinda gave up because they werent very good and i didnt know what i was doing

Posted Image
that's a bg i made for a contest, the real one i turned was a bit brighter, but i cant find that one xD

Ok, so that was before hammygranny gave me a couple tips. now i actually know what i can do xD so the one i was making while she gave me advice:

Posted Image
Samus! this is a big improvement from the first ones i made xD

Posted Image
and this was the last thing i made for my friend. i got a little lazy cutting away the edge xD but she didnt mind too much. i didnt have much time to work with

ok so thats it xD my life of photoshop! xD

Two biggest things:

ONLY use a 'soft fuzzy' eraser to remove Bg's

When using a render/pic, you dotn have fit the whole thing into there, for instance the pirate one would have looked better had u cut off before the bottom so it didnt look akward.

My biggest tip would be practice removing BGs with a soft brush they are much too jagged, and sharp.
also try an dwork more depth into your BGs you last 2 are deff. better than previous.

I would also recomend reading a few tutorials on Pslover.com ;) Kep it up :)

You've got some talent, your newer ones are getting there. The background is neat looking. Try to experiment more with backgrounds, using brushes and such. I also agree yoiu should use a soft brush to erase around your pictures so they're smoother. Keep at it, some tutorials would probably increase your skill.

Uhm, something has come to my attention while browsing this thread.
How do you know that members have Photoshop? They could be using Open Canvas, or, yah know, Gimp.
You seem to be giving technical advice that only applies to one program. :P
Correct me if I'm wrong, though.

Ami I know she has photoshop, lucky said she did, and zirbo i'm not sure, but i'm assuming hammygranny knows. We aren't really giving technical comments, they can be applied to most decent programs.

Hey, Jess - when you come to the Critique Corner, you should expect "critique" not "OMG, wow! You work with paint so wonderfully, Lucky4me!" ;) If you get serious critique, then you should work on that one point until you totally rule at it. :P That's one thing you learn when you do ballet, lol.

Yeah, I have Photoshop. :) It's a very good program. :D

yeah i have photoshop

thanks for the advice maremoto and hammygranny. i find tutorials annoying because sometimes it just doesnt turn out the way its supposed xD but ive gotten to know the controls better. also for the ones i made like the pirate one, i seriously didnt really know what i was doing so yeah...thats why its kinda bad xD and im also too lazy to dl brushes but i can do it later i just never find good sites... but then that might just be because im too lazy...

i'll try using the soft brush next time. :veryhappy:
i usually only make stuff when i ask my friends if i can make them something because i never know what to make xD

Tutorials can be frustrating sometimes, but if you stick it out it really will improve your skill. As for brushes, well there really isn't much effort at all. The fifth muse brushes are beautiful, I can at least get you started there. http://www.strangeangels.net/z.htm
