I got some cool fonts for gimp off www.dafont.com I've added them to my font folder but they are not showing when I open GIMP. Please help.

ok scooter, to get fonts IN gimp do the following:

My Computer> LOcal DIsk ( C: ) << [this could possibly be E; depending on your system]>Documents and Settings>yourName>.gimp2.0>fonts

My comp> local disk > program files >GIMP 2.0>fonts

and it's not working do I need to fo it your way?

here's some of my outlined text I put a 1 pix border on too and it's not there!!! I followed your instructions!

My prob is that the text doesn't look fully outlined and again I followed your instructions!

YES, scooter you need to do it my way, thats why I sai dit that way. It wont work otherwise.

TEXT OUTLINING INTSRTRUCTIONS EXPANDED


Make Your Text.
Alpha to Slect The text. ( Right click text layer in layers box, and select alpha to selection)
make a NEW layer UNDER text layer.
On sig/av go to select>grow>1 pix
Drag and drop a color ( black) on the text
go to slecet>none

That text looked pretty outlined to me...? Well, not as outlined as it should have been. :P We must follow instructions word by word! :laughing: Thanks for your easy explanations, Koi(inside joke) - I am a master at outlining text now. ;)

I've been doing your text outlining method, hamgran, it works fine! I'm so, so grateful because I hadn't a clue before, lol! Thanks Hamgran!!! :hug: I think it was explained fine, I'm so pleased with how things are turning out now!!

@scooter

make a NEW layer ABOVE all layers
go on sig & press Ctrl+A OR edit>select all
make black the color you are using
edit>stroke selection>1 pix> OK

thats all, NOTE You WILL NOT see the border untill you post online because of gimp's selection grid. I f you do it properly it will be there when you post it.

Yay I did it!! woot woot adn I've mastered text outlining I'm sooo happy.

Sorry to be a pain but how do you use the eyedropper tool I have been asked to use it in one of my critiques but I don't know how.
