Great photos, that's my Sprite in the last pic, "she" is actually a "he". Posted ImageBut Sprite is not as developed in the *ahem* area as Bumpy (who is VERY obviously male).

I'd definitely love to see some you guys at the next show! I didn't realize we have quite a few SoCal people here. veryhappy.gif

The Summer Show this year had a really huge turn out with a lot of people coming from out of state, lots and lots of hamsters in the show, lots and lots of baby dwarf hamsters for sale. lovestruck.gif We even had a hamster ball race, so it was quite fun. hamster3.gif  I saw my first long haired rex Syrian hamster in person that day and he was super fuzzy and so cute!

CHA Winter Show 2014 update:

Please DON'T use the forms I linked from the previous post, because the CHA website is currently super wonky and the automatic forms (and blogs) are down. For anyone wanting to enter their hamsters, please email Linda Price at calhamassoc@hotmail.com for the entry form and buy supply forms. New entry deadline is this thursday Jan. 9.

We will be meeting at the Griffith Park picnic tables close to the parking lot.

When is the next show? Also, are there usually a lot of hamsters for sale? I'd love to have a pure Winter White. What's it like to show pet hamsters? Is it worth it?

Also, Biscotti, I was considering getting my first Roborovskis from you, and then impulse took over...hehe.

The next show is the Spring Show, which usually take place at the Pet Expo in Costa Mesa (Orange County). The Expo this year runs from April 25-27, and the hamster show will take place on the saturday. CHA actually haven't reserved a table at the Expo yet, but I'm hoping there will be a show. If not, then Summer Show usually take place around late-July to early-August, and that's usually one of the largest show since a lot of people have time to travel during summer break. :)

There are usually a lot of hamster pups for sale: Syrian, Campbells, WW, and Robos. If you're looking for a specific color it's best to reserve one in advance with a breeder. I usually bring my pups along to the show as well and love to let people handle them so they can see how nice robos can be. A lot of people couldn't believe they're actually holding a robo that sits still and let them pet it. :)

Pet hamsters are VERY welcomed at the show! Pet class only judge how nice your hamster is, and not for conformation of standards, so you don't have to worry that it doesn't have good shape or size. There's other fun awards such as mellowest, cutest, most unique looking, etc. Sometimes we have hamster ball races. :D You can PM me if you have any specific questions, we'd really love to have more people come to the shows. :)
