Keeping the microphone too close isn't good either, it just deforms the voice.
Mine is next to my screen so at about 20-30cm away from me sitting, more standing up (it's always better to stand up to sing).

Y U SO TALENTED?! Singing is hard to master. This is why I play bass; no unfortunate fool ever has to hear my voice.
Good tip, thanks!!Here's a tip, too, which should help a lot: Don't point the microphone at your lips, but instead point it at your neck so that when you sing the sound from your lips goes over the top of the mic and not into it. That'll give the recording a deeper, richer bass, similar to how you sound to yourself, and also virtually eliminate pops and clicks from plosive consonants.
I agree with HH: I sometimes think I have a good voice, then I hear it somewhere like on a recording or a video and it's like LOLWHAT? I have a such a chalky manly voice.
I will try this!

Can you find those computer microphones anywhere? I've had trouble finding one. My laptop has a built in one, but. I have a few like, studio-style microphones but I am not tech-saavy whatsoever, so good luck finding the right way to hook it up to a computer. Lol. You probably can't even do that....LOL.
I've always wanted to be in a screamo band. AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

About the mic, my netbook has a built in mic so I used that. I didn't even adjust it or anything? I used it for the first time on that Pocahontas recording lol.

The mic I have has the sound card built in, so it connects straight to the computer with USB

As far as the mic goes, unfortunately we don't have the right adapter to plug in the back of my sound card (computer?? Wherever the thingy goes....) so I might just have to use the cheap-o headset mic for now. IF!

Oooh I thought you had a thing to hook it up to the computer, and that's what you used lol :P
You can get a XLR to USB cable like this http://www.amazon.com/LightSnake-STUSBXLR10-USB-Microphone-cable/dp/B000H7O9ZI
That'll work

Ok, so my good friends in chat convinced me to post a song clippet and it was incredibly hard to be vulnerable like that, but I'm glad they encouraged me to do that and were very supportive. So I shall post it here as well. First word is hard for me to hit the note until it gets higher.
