I've had a lot of problems with my syrian hamster, Artemis. I love her to death, but she just won't be nice to me and be happy with the space she has.
So. time to give her the absolute largest cage I possibly can.
That being 5100 square inches.
I'm going to show you guys the entire process of building this cage, cost (where I am, at least) setting it up, and the end result!
I'll be able to begin buying materials and building in two or three weeks, and it should (hopefully) be finished about a month from now.
The inside dimensions will be 34"x150" (technically 34"x95" + 34"x55") which comes out to a very pleasing monster size of 5100 square inches!
The back and base will be made from aspen plywood, and the sides will be glass. One of my parents requirements was that it was on stilts, so I'll also be building those. The top will be several mesh lids with the stand thingy so I can be lazy and not need to hold them open.
I got a job a few months ago, and seeing as I am a minor with literally nothing else to spend that money on, yay hamster! It's going to be really expensive but anything for my queen
It will be 100% made by me (someone with literally zero DIY skills - a bin cage was difficult for me) so I'll tell you guys what works well and what does not work well!
Thanks for reading!!! I can't wait to share the journey and ESPECIALLY the end result with you guys
Question: would you be interested in seeing how I make the other DIYs for the cage in separate threads, or just showing them here? Also, any tips on building things? I have no clue what I'm doing.
