I saw someone else posting about this topic too but I still wanted to make my own.

Okay so I have a Syrian hamster for a little over a month now and I don't get along with her- a F hamster is more energetic and requires more care (harder to handle) than a M hamster, I also read posts about the differences in their behavior and it's true- I had a M hamster in the past.

She's always trying to escape, she just doesn't rest for a moment and doesn't stop making noise, she's in my room so I can see and hear everything.

I have already reached a point where I haven't slept for a week and I'm under constant stress that she will escape (she succeeded two days ago but I fixed the problem) or that she will hurt herself by accident because of how energetic she is, I've gone crazy about the situation.

I would like advice on what to do and hear how you handle your female Syrian hamster.

P.S
The cage isn't the problem- she has a huge cage (2 large bin attached lengthwise), 9-inch bedding so she could burrow(and she does), a few hiding places, toys, a chinchilla sand bath, and a 27cm wheel.

P.S 2
This isn't the only reason to why I don't get along with her, but it's not the point for this post.

How big are the bins? Are they 50 gallons of something else? Also how did you attach them? Female Syrians are known for being picky in even the biggest spaces. It's just how they are. Have you tried taking her out for free roaming or putting her in a playpen? Otherwise if it really is a problem the only thing I can think of is to re-home if it is in her best interest and yours. Also sorry if I was no help. I probably wasn't.

Thank you :)

One is 22GAL(100L(the biggest one in the store)) and the second is 15.9GAL(60L), I cut out one side of width of each bin and connected them with zip ties and sealed it with hot glue from the outside.

Free roaming isn't an option for now, she's very scared and isn't tamed yet.

I thought about making her a new cage where the bins will be the same size but i'm not sure if it will solve the problem :/

I need to figure out how to build her a new cage cuz zip ties isn't a good idea(she climbs on it)

I have had many female syrians and there is always a time in their lives where for about a month or two they relentlessly try to escape. It you provide the means: like zip ties, no lid, tall wheel, large house; they will do everything they can. The way I fixed this is I got a bin cage like yours and only put a ton of holes on the sides and top along with leaving the lid open daily while I'm in the room. I never had a problem with escaping since. Female syrians also try to escape to find a male so sometimes you just have to be patient for a bit while they are in heat. More toys like toilet paper rolls, chew sticks and foraging is a quieter alternative to her constantly trying to escape.

With all that said, my experience of female have led to me to believe that some are mellow and some need constant attention until they are older and calmed down. My best reccomendation is simplify the cage, make it one large one with no zip ties. I wish you luck, I hoped this helped.

Your welcome! I hope you don't think I was being rude about the rehoming thing. That's just what I could think of. Okay that makes sense. May I ask where you live? Have you tried googling 50 gallon bins or looking online maybe? Yeah the taming part is definitely a problem. Are you able to Diy a bigger cage?

Oof I feel yah. I also got my female Syrian ~1.5 months ago. Most days are good, but she also has the desire to escape almost all the time. To where? She doesn't know.  :running:  But I've learned to accept it as just a part of being responsible for her and all her quirks. I have since upgraded her cage, and that helped a little. Otherwise I give her a little bit of outside time every day. She will jump onto my hand, but only when she chooses (aka if she escapes, she won't let me pick her up when I want to, only when she wants to come on my hand she will). So I have a container to scoop her up in when outside time is done.

The that makes sense to wht she's like this, I'll give her the toys you suggested and I'll make the cage once I figure out how to

Not at all :)

I'm from Israel and yeah I did, the biggest here is 22GAL :/

also searched on Amazon but the the cost & shipping is too much.

I can diy another cage- I'll connect 2 of the 22GAL but I don’t know how to do so.

Maybe with hot glue? Will it be strong enough to last? I can smooth it out so the hamster won't pick/chew on it.

lol she sounds so cute!

Mine is so scared, she barely takes treats from me- it will be a long journey until she comes to my hand like that and once we get there- I’ll start with the free roaming.

Okay good. Oh wow that sucks. I mean you could hot glue it but your hamster could very much chew at it. I'm pretty sure mine would lol. we have screws in mine and my first Hamster Sweetie definitely Chewed them but my Hamster now named Willow chew them even more for some reason to the point where we had to put tape over it. As long as your hamster doesn't try to escape or chew it you should be fine but then again you never know. They are super sneaky. The only other thing I can think of is putting two on top of each other but that would give more height not more space so that wouldn't really work.
