It is good for a Syrian hamster? Apparently it’s 80 cm long,40 cm wide and 33 cm high (i measured it and it’s a little bit shorter, like 75 x 38 x 33,but my calculations are probably wrong)

Hi! So unfortunately that bin is too small for any hamster let alone a Syrian. It only comes out to 2100 sq cm or 325.5 sq inches, the ABSOLUTE bare minimum most commonly used is 450 square inches (2903.22 sq cm), I recommend AT LEAST 600 square inches for a Syrian (3870.96 sq cm). If you are set on making a bin cage I would recommend a 200 qt (50 gal) bin as the smallest bin for a Syrian, it has about 600 sq inches of floorspace (3870.96 sq cm)During the holiday season you can get a sterilite tree bin which has about 800 sq inches of floorspace (5161.28 sq cm). I hope this helps!

Unfortunately, he's not in the US, so he may not have access to a 50 gallon bin easily.

Thatrobo is right though, it is too small. I had Mabel in a sightly larger qt bin, I think it was a 109? when I first got her but a decent sized wheel wouldn't fit and she could easily get to the top and start chewing on the bars.

Here's a size comparison between that bin and the 50 gallon that I upgraded to later: https://imgur.com/a/55zYF0K

I would try to find something bigger or DIY something. Are you set on a Syrian? Because a dwarf will likely be happier in something smaller than a Syrian. And whatever you do, don't get a female syrian if you have space issues! For your sake! They will drive you up the wall trying to satisfy them lol

It was the bigger cage I could find, also my mom said this is the LAST cage, because I had a critter trail,a smaller bin cage and my mom was very angry ): maybe if I connect my other 188 sq inch cage? And I let my hamster explore?

wait,actually I measured again and it’s like 75 x 38 cm,not 30,so actually it’s 430 sq inches,still not good ):

Yeah, I'm sorry about that =( It's hard for parents to understand the needs of pocket pets sometimes. I'll reach out to you in PMs.

Around 400 sq inches is not that bad. 450 is just kind of arbitrary minimum that was agreed upon by pet owners. There's not much data behind it. Depending on your setup, you might be able to make it work. You might even be able to make a vertical lid so the wheel can fit more easily in it. If you had a crittertrail you might be able to use the wire part of that cage as the topper. =)

Well, that's a nice starter setup. I like how you repurposed the crittertrail hide box and tube!

If you want any advice, maybe some other things added like a few more inches of bedding, some more things for the hammy to hide in. (if you don't, please feel free to ignore)

Here is what my first cage looked like: SsGZddt.jpg

and I had a hide box under the bedding:

Yeah,I’m gonna put more inches of bedding and maybe some chew toys, also If I can im gonna connect it,because it’s like 430 sq inches so it’s not bad to connect if the principal cage it’s big
