I have been in and out of hospital as Drs tried to isolate the cause

It finally loked like a hormonal issue and after many trips to the ER I opted for a BSO to remove my ovaries .

mei:: what will you be taking to counter the lack of hormones your body will now have? :worried: you need to think abt the ovario-hysterectomy's effects on your skin, hair and general comfort level, as well as moods~~

have you looked at soy products' natural estrogen properties? my dwarf monique :hamster2: had to have a ovario-hysterectomy, and i noticed she immediately gained weight and her fur started to look messy. her eyes seemed smaller and drier, too.

i give her some soy milk 3X/weekly and her coat really improved, and her weight seems to be going down a bit~~

are there any knowledgeable naturopaths in singapore? would really think this would be a good time for you to include them in your treatment now~~ :worried:  :nurse:

Periods used to be very bad for me. I'd get shaky, dizzy, and sick. Hot, cold, anything you can think of that is terrible. I tried prescription painkillers that didn't help at all, as they worked an hour after the cramps started and during that hour is when I got sick. Then they gave me birth control, and all is better. I get insurance coverage for it too, since it is for medical purposes.

But I still get cramps sometimes, and when I do, I realized that moving around can help. The time before I started the pills I walked around my living room for about an hour, almost never stopping, and it kept the cramps away. When I stopped, I could feel them coming. Hot water bottles work wonders, though for me not directly on my abdomen, along with a cold cloth around the kneck when I feel hot. This helped quite a bit with hot/cold swings during my worst cases, along with a sheet over me, blanket on my feet, and an understanding mother.

Avoiding caffeine is also good. If you *must* drink pop, drink sprite or 7up. That always made me feel better. And even if you want it, avoid chocolate... I've only experienced and heard bad things about that.

I've never had herbal remedies at hand, so I can't say anything there. But from experience, those are my tips and I hope they help whoever has the problems I had. I'm just so glad they're over. (Though sometimes, like today, I was hoping to get a little sick so I could go home from school. Silly me.)

cow32323, i hav similar PMS symtoms like u, stomach cramps, headaches, nausea, legs cramps n gastric pains due to nausea thus not able to eat enough or will vomit. i always thought im the only 1 like tat, nobody seems to understand how painful n nausea it is.

my mum told mi its hereditary, my grandma n aunt hav similar symtoms too.

during sch times, normally i will get mcs, my mum will help mi to write letter to explain, luckily the teachers understand n they allow mi to skip PE when i hav my period coz i fainted once in sch.

now im working, normally i will try to get mcs to stay at home. im in the teaching line too, thus if things get really bad, i will just inform the parents n do a make up lesson for them.

i tried seeking help in neighbouring clinics, but they says it like tat, n things will get better after giving birth of a baby, n they just give mi painkillers, n also mcs

at first panadol works, but later it take a long time to take effect. i tried other pain killer, chinese herbs, fruit, flower tea, ginger tea a lot of things but also no use. then i switch back to panadol again. but recently, tis year, the pain decreases especially if i can predicts it, n eat panadol before my period start,1-2hrs earlier. then the pain can be controlled, every 3-4hrs, i hav to eat 2panadols for 2-3 days it depends how long the pain last. hopefully tis decreasing of pain will continues or i hav to find another alternative again. so far i didnt went to a gynae to check up as tis year, it gets better for mi. it is not as painful as before but i will get nausea more often.

ruiqi it doesnt always get better . Look at me

It got worse .It may be endo metriosis and that is famous for making women infertile .

I was hesitent at first to go to a gynae because back then I was not married and a virgin. BUT its the best thing I ever did .

What I like to do is sit with the heating pad on my stomach and sit with coco or something and watch a good movie like harry potter or something

Hi gals, I have heard that yoga can help relieve menstral discomfort. You might like to give it a try. But pls consult your doctor before you proceed. If you are going to attend yoga classes, do consult the instructor on your problems. He may be able to advise you.

I may not understand the type of pain you are going thru cos I do not experience menstral cramps. Hope this will help. :)

These are some reference sites.

Check out the "Special Benefits for women"

The poses are for intermediate students. Pls do not try any pose you have difficulty doing. You'll end up hurting yourself.

Do not practise yoga when having your period, especially for the first 3 days. ;) My period has been very regular since i started taking yoga.
