Parkway Small Animal & Exotic Hospital
General Locataion: Metro Detroit, Michigan.
I went in for a check up for my Syrian hamster because she had a rapid 8 gram weight gain. She ended up being okay, the vet said it was probably just that she put on weight from a few too many treats.
Cost for exam: $45
The vet was very knowledgeable and very gentle with my hamster. She scruffed the hamster to check her teeth and did so flawlessly.

Hello everyone

We are compiling some info about vet prices and need your help. If you have ever taken your hamster to the vet, would you mind sharing how much it cost and what you paid for?

You can post here or PM me if you'd prefer to keep it more private.

What we're looking for:
-Procedures and their prices
-Medications and their prices (example: ibuprofen 25mg, 30 pills)
-General location (down to metro area if possible, for comparison)
-Type of vet - exotic? Specialist? General cat/dog vet?
-Other costs (lab fees, exam fees, etc)

Thanks a ton!

-Procedures and their prices:

I wanted Oreo to have a general exam since I've had him for a little over a month and wanted to check he was doing okay.

I paid a total of $73.50 for the Visit.

On the receipt it says "Exotic Annual Physical Exam - $68" and "Mandatory Medical Waste Disposal (Level 2) - $5.50"

I asked the vet to double check Oreo's fur and she said it would be an additional $27 to test for mites. (Thankfully the vet said he was all good, and didn't need additional testing)

-Medications and their prices (example: ibuprofen 25mg, 30 pills)

None Needed.

-General location (down to metro area if possible, for comparison)

Poughkeepsie, NY (about 2 hours north of NYC)

-Type of vet - exotic? Specialist? General cat/dog vet?

Cat/Dog and Exotic.

They have a vet that specializes in hamsters.

-Other costs (lab fees, exam fees, etc)

I'm assuming "Mandatory Medical Waste Disposal (Level 2)" meant that they had to clean up Oreo's poop/pee

Also at the bottom of my receipt it says:

"Note: Interest of 18.0% per Annum will be charged on Balance > 30 days old."

Once we made an appointment at pets at home for cookie for a check up and to cut her nails, but we cancelled it because it was more expensive than we thought and she could do without it. It was £50 for the checkup and £5 to cut her nails. So 55 pounds in total.

-Procedures and their prices: wellness check USD$85, nail clipping USD$20
-General location: Urban suburb
-Type of vet: Exotic

The $85 was taken as a deposit when I called to make the appointment. The vet was herself a hamster owner so she made sure to check with me about his husbandry, such as his enclosure size, enrichment, diet, etc.
