Banfield Pet Hospital (Rocky Mount, NC)

(In general, most vets here will not see hamsters. However, this location has one vet that is quite knowledgeable about general things such as clipping teeth and giving required medication. )

General Exam (rodent): $40

10 days of Baytril in cherry syrup: $13

"Professional Services" (In this case, teeth clipping and a shot of Baytril were combined): $12

Medical Waste fees: $4

Wasilla, Alaska

We took Uther to just a regular vet who happened to have a doctor who worked with hamsters. Out Uther had a wound on his back. We noticed it right after we bought him. He was co-living with 2 others at the store. Doctor charged us $50 for the visit and wound cleaning and gave him an antibiotic shot at no charge.

Took Molly to the vets for an emergency consultation due to impacted cheek...
Exovet, Madrid.
45€ consultation
10€ antibiotics and antiinflamatories
25€ follow up visits x 3
10€ medication

We are still on ongoing treatment...
They are especialists in exotics.

Milly had to go for a check up and it was 45€ too at the same place.

I've been to see a specialist vet on several occasions and I actually have one of my bills so I can list a bunch of prices for you; hopefully they'll be a help!

Procedures and their prices :

Surgery :                              126,50

injections :                            5,46

-Medications and their prices (example: ibuprofen 25mg, 30 pills)

Anesthesia and monitoring : 150,60

pre-operation meds :            16,30

fluids :                                   9,01

-General location (down to metro area if possible, for comparison)

Montreal, Canada; it's located about 20 minutes from downtown.

-Type of vet - exotic? Specialist? General cat/dog vet?

it was an exotics vet that dealt mostly in birds but caters to all exotics, from reptiles to rodents

-Other costs (lab fees, exam fees, etc)

Re-evaluation :                     45,50

Sterile kit :                             23,82 (I have no idea what this is; maybe the cost to sterilize everything?)

It was actually more expensive to have a syrian checked out compared to a dwarf. I don't remember the exact cost of either, but it was almost 60$ for my dwarf, and over 80 $ for my syrian.

I can't say where the vet was exactly, sorry.

Vet location: Canada

Exam fee/wet tail medication: $70 (Sorry, my dad took my hamster in, so I don't know everything exactly... but it was WAY overpriced.)

Type of Vet: General cat and dog. (No exotic vets in area.)

And my hamster died the next day. I hate vets. I will never go to a vet again unless there's an exotic pets one.

does anyone have any ideas in new jersey for a vet or costs to check a hamster for diabetes?

There are a lot of exotic vets in New Jersey.

Mine cost $100 for the initial visit.

But you could easily check a hamster for diabetes at home. You can buy keto-diastix testing strips, and test the urine.

I've done that but im not sure what the results mean exactly :/

The strip changes color when you put the urine on it if your hamster has diabetes. You compare that to the diagram that it provides.

so it only changes if they have diabetes?! or is it a drastic change it must make...

Basically. For example, here's a picture of the diagram thing:

Spoiler

When you test the urine, if it stays that bluish green color on the very left, then your hamster doesn't have diabetes. If it turns darker, then he does have diabetes.

I'm not completely certain though, so you may want to start a topic in Ailments & Injuries about it.
