I think it would be a neat idea for people to show off some of the treats/recipes they make for their hamster!

I haven't done mine yet, but you could look to this site for ideas: Cookin' for Lucy

So please, any time you create a Recipe -- SHARE! :lovestruck: We'll have spoiled hamsters across the globe!

I use a homemade mix for my hamsters and gerbils currently but I'm working on one geared toward different hamster species. I would love to eventually have one for Syrians, RC, WW, Robos, and Hybrids so that if somebody wants to make them a healthier blend that caters to their specific needs it will be there for them. Its a good bit of work currently but once I start trialing some of the new mixes I will post them here.

Hello!! :D I only know of one recipe which is for hamster treats and I would like to know more recipes for my hamster. I want recipes for food and treats. I will share mine for my treats that I make so everyone can use it. Here it is:

Ingredients: A cup of luke-warm water, shredded cheese, cut up carrots, plain cheerios (not honeynut), 2 small dog treats, and creamy peanut butter. (make sure the PB is low fat and low sugar.)

What to do: 1. Take your first dog treat and drop it into the cup of luke-warm water to make sure it doesn't expand. If it expands you need to use a different kind of dog treat because if it expands in water, it will also expand in your hamsters stomach. 2. Take your second dog treat and spread a small amount of PB on it. 3. Take a few shreds of cheese and put it on the treat where the PB is. 4. Put some cut up carrots and plain cheerios on your dog treat. 5. Give it to your hamster and watch him eat it!!

Here is the link to a video teaching you how to make these same exact hamster treats incase you are confused:
(the video is not mine but I do not have a video yet so above is the video I used to make the treats)
Thank you guys, Ariel.

Hamsterluvrsrule: There's already a topic all about this pinned in this board actually, right here: Recipes for Hamsters. I'm going to merge your post into that topic. ;)

I have been meaning to put up these recipes for you guys but never got around to doing it.

Important note: These recipes are not meant for human consumption. If you want to prepare your own gourmet dish for yourself, check out some cookbooks for humans.

1) Banana meatball
*Note: This treat is not recommended for dwarf hamsters as this treat contains banana which has high amounts of sugar. It also may look very unappetizing to you but I assure you it will taste delicious for hammie.

Ingredients: A pinch of banana ( about the size and thickness of half a dime )
A small drop of low fat skim milk ( or use whole milk of your hammie looks like it could do with some extra fat)
A floret of broccoli
A toothpick

Instructions: 1. Wash your hands thoroughly
2. Use the toothpick to mix the milk into the banana
3. Sprinkle on the broccoli
4. If your mixture is a little wet, add some more banana to get it into a creamy paste ( the feel of thick cream cheese)
5. Serve!

2) Pasta Delight

Ingredients: 1 piece of plain cooked pasta
A plastic knife, or an extra sharp one if you wish
A bit of kale ( or your favorite uncooked veggie )
A 2 inch length of thin bread crust ( or longer if you wish )
A sprinkling of hammie's favorite seed
A toothpick

Instructions: 1.Cut the cooked pasta into small strips
2.Mix the kale into the pasta with your toothpick
3.Wrap the bread crust around the perimeter of the mixture
4.Sprinkle on some seeds
5.Serve!

3) Triple berry sundae
*Note: This recipe contains high amounts of sugar which should not be fed on dwarf hamsters

Ingredients: One blueberry
A fourth of a strawberry
A raspberry
Bread crumbs
A teaspoon of low fat organic yogurt ( or Greek yogurt if you wish )
A drop of olive oil
A toothpick

Instructions: 1. Use the toothpick to mix the yogurt and olive oil until it is extra creamy
2. Squeeze the blueberry juice into the yogurt
3. Squeeze the strawberry and raspberry juice into the yogurt
4. Sprinkle on the bread crumbs
5. Serve!

Veggie tortilla
*Note: This is a very good recipe if you feel the need to let out your anger on anything

Ingredients: A tiny leaf of bok choy ( or any other green and leafy veggie )
Half a teaspoon of low fat organic yogurt ( the creamier the better)
A piece of milkbone
A toothpick
A hammer ( yes, I just asked you to take out a hammer )

Instructions: 1. Smear the yogurt onto the bok choy leaf with your toothpick ( by now you should have realized toothpicks can be very versatile )
2. Use the hammer to hammer the milkbone into very fine crumbs
3. Sprinkle the crumbs onto the yogurt
4. Wrap it up
5. Serve!

Enjoy these delicious recipes!
