I once watched a youtube video of a girl making her 2 dwarf hamsters "swim" in a pool of water forcibly (not letting them out until she was finished) . But there was so many hate comments, and I didn't say anything. I don't have a youtube account, and if I did I wouldn't be much of a commenter. Is that good or bad?

I saw that video too! It was so horrible   I wanted to scream at her! :hissyfit: If she knows what she's doing is wrong I would really loose it. :irked: But I don't know whether she knew or not that what shes doing is terrible. We all make mistakes and the only thing that matters is that we fix them. But still... I wonder.............................. :undecided:

What bothers me is when people comment on old old old videos and posts and try to tell someone that what they are doing is wrong and they need to change it. Hamsters don't live over 3 years (and if you get that long you are very fortunate) so these hamsters are likely passed and don't need our help. Another way to come at it is to say "hey I know this is old but I noticed that you are doing ____ and that isn't a great practice because ____ so if you do get another hamster I just thought I would let you know because it could harm the animal." but I only say that kind of thing if no one else has said anything.

I am not the person who said it, but I would think it would be a pet one. I'd ask the person who told us of this to get a sure answer. :)

I'm guessing the bottle is cut to be used as a tube, not as a water bottle :)

But is that a problem? I haven't been in the habit of doing that but it doesn't seem like something that would harm the hamster

Depends. I mean we DIY toys and whatnot all the time, so repurposing certainly isn't the issue. If there are exposed sharp edges then that could be a problem, but it's easily fixed and not something that makes someone a bad owner.

I am an animal rights activist, so any animal abuse i see i often get so furious over i really want to comment and i really want to do something about it. I wish we could, but we can't make all animal abusers stop abusing animals. Some people are just sick and messed up in the head, and personally i wouldn't comment because it only makes them happy people are getting upset about the animals. I don't want anything to do with those sickos! However, if it is a beginner pet owner and they are making a mistake, kindly tell them what they are doing wrong.

Lol. The first part, I imagine you almost yelling it, and the second part, it's like you're saying it in a very nice and friendly tone.

Any kind of abuse I cannot tolerate, specially animal abuse. Mainly because they do not have a voice to speak up, and cant defend themselves. Animals have much feelings like humans and it literally breaks my heart seeing or hearing about anybody who mistreats an animal. I always refuse to see it, if i see one on youtube i never click because I dont want to feel the pain those babies feel. If i had one wish it would be to end all animal cruelty. I used to watch animal cops when i was younger and I would get so angry and sometimes even cry when I saw a mistreated animals no matter what kind. Knowing I love my 2 hamsters with all of my being I can never ever hurt them, it sucks some people out there don't care at all. One day I hope to end all animal abuse, until the mean time it's our job as animal owners to provide them with the love and attention they deserve for being so amazing and bringing us joy into our lives.  :heartbeat:

Hahaha, Please don't fret...If an animal hissing at you means you are an abuser, then throw me in jail!

If your Hammie is hissing at you when you pick him up, try going back a few steps with taming. Even if he's already tame see if you can maybe regain some trust with him!
But him hissing could of been caused by a number of things, someone/you/something startling him, he was disturbed or he was just scared!....Or he's a grumpy butt...All are possible, haha! Don't fret and have patience! :goodvibes:
